Want to win a $100 Visa gift card from BlogHer? Check out this fun treat you can make for your kids! Actually, your kids can even help make these. They're easy, fun, and yummy! You can find the recipe HERE (along with a picture of what it's supposed to look like!
You need Strawberry Milkshake Pop-Tarts, ice cream, and sprinkles. (I made some with Hot Fudge Sundae Pop-Tarts too!)
According to the recipe, you're supposed to cut the Pop-Tarts into quarters. I tried it that way, but had a hard time working with the small pieces. Julia Child I'm not. So, I just cut the rest of them in half.
Then you scoop some softened ice cream onto the Pop-Tart.
Top with a second Pop-Tart section and roll the edges in sprinkles.
Wrap in plastic wrap and throw in the freezer.
Take out and enjoy!
Yum! Nothing hits the spot like an ice cream treat after playing outside all day!

That looks interesting. I love Fudge Poptarts. They are so yummy!
ReplyDeleteCereal with toast with peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteMy little one won't arrive for another two months (I hope), but my go-to breakfast for myself is a simple bowl of cereal with milk and juice. But I do love Pop-Tarts when I'm on the go and need something portable. This baby gets pretty demanding when it's hungry, even though it is still in the womb!
ReplyDeleteOur "go-to" breakfast is scrambled eggs and cheese on an Arnold's multi-grain Thin rounds or in a whole-wheat tortilla.
ReplyDeleteHmm My quick breakfast for my kids, mini bagels with onion and chive cream cheese, they love it and it is easy in the car!
ReplyDeleteActually my go to breakfast food is poptarts. My kids LOVE them and they are so quick and easy. We ALWAYS have some in the house!
ReplyDeleteYUM! I never think to use stuff that's laying around to make treats like that.
ReplyDeleteIs there a bad time for an PopTart Ice cream sandwich? Your kids look darling in 'full lip-smacking-mode'.
ReplyDeleteBrekkie at our place is hot chocolate and oatmeal or poptarts (seriously) on the weekdays...and whatever they fix for themselves on the weekends ;D
I like to have a bag of homemade frozen pancakes on hand for a quick, but hot breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI still love PopTarts. Just out of the toaster is the best way. My kids (not little, 18 and 20) are big breakfast eaters and always have been. No cereal or toast for them. It's always been eggs, toast, and sausage (It's the one meal that I enjoy fixing for them)
ReplyDeletecold cereal...quick, easy, crowd-pleaser.
ReplyDeleteWe love cereal or oatmeal, but sometimes grab a granola bar if we’re running out the door.
ReplyDeletemami2jcn at gmail dot com
It is toast with jam, folded! Out the door in a minute
ReplyDeleteMy kids love either good ole cereal and milk or frozen waffles (well, toasted frozen waffles). Luckily, they eat them plain so it's not hard to clean up! When we're running late, I love to just toast 4 waffles and bring them in the car. Very little mess :-)
ReplyDeletemy go to breakfast is cereal or toast because the kids love it...but when I get pop tarts strawberry is my fav!
ReplyDeleteWeekday breakfasts tend to be more cereals and granola bars, with the occasional poptart thrown in. Strangely enough my SO eats poptarts as a snack or with his lunch at work all the time, but not for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteWow! Those are totally decadent! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteCereal, eggs, fruit salad, oatmeal are all go-to breakfasts for me...but I do reach for the Pop Tarts when the morning just isn't turning out as planned. They are the perfect grab and go breakfast.
Thanks for the great giveaway!!! :)

My kids LOVE Pop-Tarts! DD likes the Vanilla Milkshake ones best, while for DS it's the Chocolate Fudge.
ReplyDeleteUsually I eat toast or cold cereal.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the poptart ice cream sandwich recipe. As if I need another reason to love poptarts!
My kids like to have toaster struedel or frozen sausage, egg & cheese biscuits you can throw in the microwave. They usually end up eating breakfast in the van on the way to school.
ReplyDeleteBreakfast is pretty much the same rotation of things: poptarts, cereal, yogurt, toast, or scrambled eggs. Occasionally we'll throw some sort of microwavable breakfast sandwich into the mix. As for most requested in this house - it's always poptarts! My kids LOVE any of the chocolatey ones - but have also recently taking a liking to the new grape ones!
ReplyDeleteAlmost always cereal! It's quick, easy, and the kids can serve themselves! :-)
ReplyDeleteI bet the chocolate pop tarts with Vanilla ice cream would go over real well here.
ReplyDeleteI don't have kids - but we keep granola bars on hand for a quick, filling breakfast.
ReplyDeleteCold cereal with fresh fruit when I'm rushed, or hot cereal with fresh fruit when I'm not. They love both, thank goodness. :)
ReplyDeleteThose look yummy! We'll have to try that. Breakfast around here is mini-pancakes, bacon, or poptarts!
ReplyDeleteJill in Indiana
Will I be entered if I admit that sometimes we buy Toaster Strudels? :-) Love Pop Tarts too though!

We do granola bars for breakfast if we're in a huge hurry, but most of the time it's some combination of cereal, waffles, poptarts, or toast.
ReplyDeleteIt's Cheerios in a snack bag and a sippy cup of Chocolate milk which they consume on the way to school!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I am going to have to try this, my kids love poptarts and really who doesn't love ice cream!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the idea.
I love poptarts, the fruity ones are my fav. For some reason I'm not a big fan of their chocolate flavors.
ReplyDeleteMy kiddo's go to breakfast is granola bars, lazy mom is me :D I keep the poptarts for myself!!
For myself it's a cheeseburger and "value" (i.e. super-small) Coke. For the kiddies it's cereal!
ReplyDeleteGo to breakfast: cereal and oatmeal. Fast, friendly and fast.
ReplyDeleteshutterboo at gmail dot com
A quick egg and toast sammy is a great in a hurry breakfast that can even be eaten on the go.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite go-to breakfast is pretty simple: cereal and milk!
ReplyDeleteI love making my kids smoothies! Sometimes I hide some spinach to make it extra nutritious!
ReplyDeleteWe eat waffles almost every day. LOL!
ReplyDeletethewalborns [at] allpeoples [dot] info
That would have to be Iced Brown Sugar Pop-Tarts, and followed up by Iced Blueberry Pop-Tarts. If that is not available then it is granola bars or occasionally cereal.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Heather

ReplyDeletesarah1236@msn.com

ReplyDeleteFor my kids, it's often Pop Tarts. They eat 'em on the walk to school. But they're also a favorite after school snack or bed time snack.
ReplyDeleteInstant oatmeal!
ReplyDeleteMy little guy loves these breakfast bars from Trader Joe's called "This Blueberry Walked into a Bar". Love the name and I tell myself they are not totally junk food. They work great in a pinch.
ReplyDeleteBreakfast for me is usually cereal or a bagel. The kids love poptarts for breakfast or a snack, whenever we need somesthing in a hurry!
ReplyDeleteOur go-to breakfast is a breakfast burrito
ReplyDeletebreakfast is most always cereal
ReplyDeleteWith 4 kids to get out the door for the bus and a 4 year old screaming for attention, our breakfasts are plain and simple. Cold cereal, granola and of course POP-TARTS! My younger ones pack a pop-tart for snack at least once a week. Last week, the neighbor kids were over and my kiddos offered them a frozen Pop-Tart for a snack. After they went home, I got a call from their mom. She wanted to know "how do you make those?" The boys told their mom that I made the best pop-tarts ever!! After I stopped laughing I told her my secret--"throw them in the freezer!!"
ReplyDeleteCereal is our usual, but pop tarts are way better.
ReplyDeleteWaffles with Jelly!
ReplyDeleteOur go to breakfast is a bagel with cream cheese and an apple. Thanks for this opportunity!
ReplyDeleteOur go to breakfast is cold cereal but when my grandkids come to visit, I fix their favorites including soft oven cinnamon toast, scrambled eggs and fresh fruit.
ReplyDeleteYum, poptarts! I still fall back on them myself even though I feel way too hold to be consuming pink things with sprinkles for breakfast :)
ReplyDeleteMy go-to breakfast for the kids is to blend up fruit, yogurt, and ice and make them think they're getting a real treat! Best part: put it in a cup with a lid and finish it in the car on the way to school!
My go to breakfast would be a bowl of Raisin Bran...The Kellogg's version with the yummy sugar coated raisins!!!
ReplyDeleteT.S. Timmons
Here it is cereal bars, quick and easy.
ReplyDeleteMornings are rushed, but I always insist that the kids eat breakfast-- they have the same choices all the time: yogurt and fruit, oatmeal w/milk, cheerios w/milk, or an egg & cheese omelet w/ toast. Boring, but effective!
ReplyDeleteThat looks good. My kids love Pop-Tarts and usually eat them for breakfast on weekends or a snack after school.
ReplyDeleteOh, that would be a treat around here!
ReplyDeleteOur quick and easy breakfast is a packet of apple and cinnamon instant oatmeal. (Yes, I know I could probably do it cheaper and healthier if I made my own packets but the ease of use is worth it to us! Plus, they'll eat it!!)
If we're really short on time, we take a drink and cups of dry cereal to eat in the car.
This looks really good! Easiest breakfast here is a bowl of cereal or a bagel!
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for cereal and instant oatmeal! Easy and quick.
ReplyDeleteIt's a win win- pop tarts AND ice cream for breakfast! Jaime Oliver would love that : )
ReplyDeleteMy kids have Pop-tarts on the weekend (that's our non-healthy food rule - sorry, Kellogg!). They each eat something different for breakfast. Every.single.day. {SIGH} I would rather eat ANYTHING filled with ice cream! Even Poptarts!
ReplyDeleteMy three almost 4 year old little girl, loves the smore pop tarts. So does her 30 year old dad. they have them for breakfest every morning.
ReplyDeleteBree

ReplyDeletePop tarts, granola bars or frozen waffles are usually what my kdis go for.
ReplyDeleteWow!! That looks so yummy!! Can't wait to try it.
ReplyDeleteMy go to breakfast with the kids are pancakes. They LOVE pancakes. I put chocolate chips in them and freeze the leftovers...viola.
Our go to breakfast is kid and week dependent: my son is pretty much a cold cereal kid. my daughter's go to breakfast changes - this week is strawberry milkshakes (milk, Edy's slow churned vanilla ice cream, and fresh strawberries). Last week it was bagel w/ cream cheese. I'm sort of hoping we're back to cold cereal next week.
ReplyDeleteO - and the brown sugar cinnamon PopTarts w/ more fiber are a hit w/ my son and DH, but not for breakfast.
I'm pregnant with our first, so my current breakfast craving is a peanut butter and dill pickle sandwich on toast. I'm thinking Pop Tart ice cream sandwiches might be a step up.
ReplyDeleteWow! That looks yummy! Great idea!!!
ReplyDeleteMy kids love cereal, but prefer warm oatmeal when it's a cold morning!
ReplyDeletedcbehlmer at hotmail dot com
my go to breakfast is onion bagels and cream cheese. I think my kids would prefer pop tarts though.
ReplyDeleteMy girls just take whatever they are eating and get in the car- and leave it there. That is why my van is disgusting. They do love those new oatmeal bars. I don't feel as guilty about having them eat those either.
ReplyDeleteEgg-o frozen whole wheat waffles with real maple syrup - quick, easy, and somewhat healthy.
ReplyDelete2nd choice is Honey Nut cheerios or (surprise!) Pop-tarts.
My go to breakfast on the run is yogurt and a handful of frozen grapes.

Those look really good! I might have to make a run to the store today!
ReplyDeletePeanut butter on toast with a banana on the side.
ReplyDeleteWe alternate Pop-Tarts with cereal - Pop-Tarts on the days we need to get out the door quickly. My kids love the Smores ones!
ReplyDeleteTruthfully, our go to breakfast is Pop-Tarts. They are easy and not terrible for them! And my kids LOVE them!!!
ReplyDeleteA favorite go-to breakfast at our house is cereal. It's easy to get ready and can be healthy when we don't buy all the sugary ones.
ReplyDeletemattschmunk at hotmail dot com
Dry Cheerios and Craisins. I know it sounds weird, but I love it!
ReplyDeleteMy go to breakfast of choice would have to be a tie between some kind of chocolate pop tart or cereal. They are both easy to eat/make and taste good.
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE Pop-Tarts in our house...favorite? Wild Berry, a new one - Wild Grape I think - and the brown sugar ones...YUM...
ReplyDelete~Think I need a Pop-Tart for my evening snack ;)
When my boys were little I would take time to make a full breakfast of eggs, meat, biscuits, etc, and they would want to follow up with cereal. I finally realized that just cereal was all they really wanted or needed. So that settled that.
ReplyDeletei love a crisp english muffin with peanut butter and a big glass of cold milk:) of course we all love poptarts too:)
ReplyDeleteCereal bars -- all varities. Granola bars, nutrigrain types, oatmeal ones. If I can hand it to my kids and call it a cereal bar they eat it. If I call it anything else, though, they won't touch it. It's quick, it's easy, and it's mess free so I'm not about to fight them over it either. :)
ReplyDeleteMy kids don't like to eat first thing in the morning, which isn't an option on school days so we have dicovered Carnation instant breakfast. They love it. At first, I was afraid it wouldn't be filling enough but they tell me they don't get hungry at school before lunch so it works for us!
ReplyDelete~andi4474
Instant oatmeal and orange juice. I can't wait to try those frozen pop tarts
ReplyDeletemy son won't eat breakfast until 2-4 hours after he wakes up. I made him sourdough pancakes with homemade buttermilk syrup this morning. he gagged and spit it out (and it was good)...string cheese, usually if nothing else he'll eat string cheese.
ReplyDeleteMmm those look good. Lately ours has been cereal. I just don't have the energy to put into breakfast lately like I should.
ReplyDeletesalad, cereal, or cinnamon toast...depends on which child. And if it's on-the-go well, BK is my first stop.
ReplyDeleteNutrigrain bars! The best lol!
ReplyDeletePoptarts or dry cereal.
ReplyDeleteI love the choclate chip cookie dough poptarts.
ReplyDeleteeggs & toast
ReplyDeleteMy kid's easy! A banana, toast or mini muffins and milk!
ReplyDeletePop Tarts are usually our "go to" grab & go breakfast. My kids like frosted strawberry. But I'd have to say my all time favorite are Smores. I practically lived on those when I was prego with my first. Another grab & go breakfast we do are french toast sticks. We're big on grab & go since I have to drive my son to school.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! With 4 kids I am always on the look-out for new snack ideas for my kids. I know they would dig this snack for sure! Thanks for the great giveaway! And snack idea!
ReplyDeleteBobbi
With 4 kids in school our mornings are rushed. We always grab poptarts! They are a life saver! Poptarts are always in our house!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, just need a little imagination!!
ReplyDeleteSo the question is...Is a pop tart ice cream sandwhich considered breakfast? Hahaha I know one of my kids will try to pull that one if I make these!
ReplyDeleteMy kids only eat wof-wof (waffles) and they refuse to use a fork. They now shower twice a day.
ReplyDeleteActually my daughter (And so does the husband) likes Blueberry Poptarts fresh out of the toaster with a slather of Peanut butter over it. My husband started my daughter on this and now she is hooked. I thought it was pretty gross, but I guess it's kinda like eating a pb&j sandwich, just toasted.
ReplyDeletetoast with nutella.
ReplyDeletecereal and milk.
oatmeal.
Go to breakfast.....cinnamon toast crunch :)
ReplyDeleteAnd for Mom, Kashi bar. I love the dark chocolate coconut!
I grab muffins.

ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting idea.
ReplyDeletePop tarts...they're not just for breakfast anymore :-)
We can't eat processed food so I won't be trying them, but would like to win the gift card!
ReplyDeleteI often throw poptarts at my kids on the way out the door in the mornings. Don't worry they catch them and eat them. (No children were harmed in the throwing of poptarts!) If we don't have poptarts then it's cereal or toast but honestyl poptarts are just faster!
ReplyDeletewill be trying this out with my 2 year old and 4 year old boys thank you so much for sharing with us
ReplyDeleteCallie
I usually take something on the road with me on my commute or something extra in my lunch bag to eat at my desk. A granola bar, cup of yogurt, pop tart, apple, etc. are all options. I don't have kids.

I don’t really have a routine. Some days I don’t even eat breakfast and opt for a cup of chai or coffee latte. Other days I have a fruit smoothie or bowl of granola. On my lucky days, my hubby makes a full sit down breakfast from scratch MMMM! LOL (PS I don't have children).

ReplyDeleteYou know what is really good.... the Popsters in strawberry blast. The are in 100 calorie packs, and i picked them up to try. I think they were limited time thing. I am just finishing my last box, and I don't think I can find them again=(
ReplyDeleteIf we're in a hurry (which is usual), it's bagels in the car...and if they're lucky, they are toasted instead of plain. If I'm REALLY nice they might get a breakfast burrito.
ReplyDeleteFruit (apple or banana typically) or a go-gurt and a slice of toast seem to work great in a snap!
ReplyDeleteI love to do the cooking type of breakfast... for dinner! Yum!
that looks so good much better then a traditional ice cream sandwich and would be my choice for breakfast on the go. For my self I just will grab a banana or peice of toast with peanutbutter
ReplyDeleteMy go to breakfast right now is powdered sugar donuts. My 4 year old can help himself while I am still sleeping in the morning.
ReplyDeleteMy kids would love those! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteThese are the best desserts. We like them cold and hot, and all day long.
ReplyDeleteI am the usual cereal and milk gal..
ReplyDeleteCinnamon raisin bagels with cream cheese. Also, Trader Joe's "Just the clusters" maple pecan granola cereal - either with milk or in yogurt.
ReplyDeleteour go to breakfast is either frozen pancakes or french toaster sticks or a pancake on a stick.
ReplyDeletePop-Tarts are a great fast breakfast on the go!
ReplyDeleteFor the kids - oatmeal at home or s'mores pop tarts on the go. For me - peanut butter & jelly toast with coffee.
ReplyDelete
