It's that time of year. Time to go shopping for a new bathing suit. Is there anything quite so depressing as trying on swimsuits in front of those huge dressing room mirrors under that flattering florescent light? When I'm in a dressing room trying on swimsuits, I'm just sure that some kid is going to crawl under the door, see me half naked and be traumatized for life. Or worse, I have an irrational fear of the fire alarm going off in the store and being forced to emerge from the dressing room and out onto the street in an ill fitting bathing suit. I can't think of a more embarrassing situation.
Of course you have to try on swimsuits with your underwear which is just lovely if you wear big granny pants and have to tuck your underwear up into the legs of your suit to see how it will really look on you. And it's nearly impossible for poor pear shaped people like me to find a swimsuit that fits on both the top and bottom.
So, when Lands' End asked me if they could send me a swimsuit to try on in the comfort of my own home, I was interested. I was interested, but I still rather doubted they had any suits that would fit me and look less hideous than a hippo in a tutu nice. I took a look at the Lands' End website. I'd never shopped from Lands' End before and was very pleasantly surprised by their huge selection of swim wear. Not only do they have many items from which to choose, but they have so many attractive styles and a huge size range. Because I can't manage to stick to Weight Watchers for more than a week at a time, I still have to buy plus sizes and let me tell you, finding a flattering suit in a larger size is no easy feat. Lands' End has pages and pages of possibilities, however.
Of course, they also have normal sizes too. They've got everything: Slender Suits designed to flatter a variety of body shapes and make you appear slimmer, Mix and Match Separates (perfect for pear shaped people!), one pieces, tankinis, swim shorts, swim skirts, mastectomy suits, cover-ups, bikinis, custom suits, and more! They seriously have something for everyone.
That's my top up there! It fits because I was able to order a size smaller on the top than on the bottom. It has underwire too, so I won't have to tuck my boobs into my shorts.
OK, now here's the awesome part! You, my wonderful readers, can win a $100 gift card to use on Lands' End swim wear! That's right - A HUNDRED DOLLARS! You can go to your local Lands' End store or use it online. (I recommend using it online and trying your new bathing suit on in the comfort of your own home.) How awesome is that?
Just leave me a comment and I'll choose a winner on Wednesday, May 7th at 10:00 PM central time. In the meantime, check out Lands' End's website and pick out your favorite suit! Happy shopping!

I would love a Lands' End swimsuit! I have been browsing them this year but can't quite afford one. Thanks for offering the contest!
I've bought their suits before and they hold up fantastically to the pool and sunshine. I love all their different styles too!
Oh, holy cow...I LOVE me some Land's End...I could ACTUALLY buy something with $100!!!
Hi Dawn,
Have you tried the virtual model that lets you put in your measurements and see what you really look like with the suit on? It's terrific. I would LOVE a new lands end suit.
OK- So here's a story. Friends of mine were trying on swimsuits and this cute little 20ish, SKINNY, girl asked thier opinion on a swimsuit. After tons of means thoughts ran through thier heads, they gave her THIER opinion. You can imagine what they wanted to tell her. Anyway, she was deciding between two suits. They of course told her they liked the one that looked the worst on her!! Poetic Justice!!
I need the underwire just to make it look like I have boobs!!
Here's to hoping the fat doesn't hang out of the swimsuit this year!
Wow! It would be wonderful to win that prize and get a great suit so I can swim with my grandfishes, uh I mean grandbabies. :)
Sharon@LoveKnits.com
Cool! I really need a swimsuit too!
I'd love a new suit. Love the tankini (easier to potty) since the bikini days are LLLOOOOONNNNNGGGGG gone.
I could REALLY use a new suit! ;)
I love LandsEnd! They have awesome swimsuits, and I love love love their overstocks selection!!
Land's End is the bomb! My love affair started with them when we lived in Alaska. You could actually get warm winter gear from them and not pay the atrocious prices of other, like quality items. Now we live in Washington state and I love all their waterproof offerings! I would love a new LE swim suit!
Hi Dawn
I've been enjoying your blog ever since you posted on Ebay. Can't wait for your book--good for you!
Kathy
I looked through the Land's End catalogue last year looking for a suit. They claim to have a suit for every body type. I didn't order because they were too expensive, but wanted too!
So I am also pear shaped, but my boobs shriveled up after nursing my third child. Before children, I was a solid "C", but now am barely a "B"! Forget about tucking them in, we're not even to my past the rib cage! In addition to the "ski slope" effect...
Oh well. The kids are worth it. Enjoy your new suit!
lowcarbscrap@sbcglobal.net
You rock! Thanks for the tip! I would love to not have to try to tuck my panties into a suit in a tiny dressing room with my three kids peeking under the door laughing at the person in the next stall! PICK ME :)
Wow, $100 from LE is awesome. I have yet to find the right swim top that can support the girls.
God Bless,
Carla
I have 3 girls and 3 boys too!
All I would need is a tan to go with that swimsuit! Where can I get a free tan!??
Cool give-a-way!! Thanks for the chance to win! Land's End has great jackets & bags. And, if your child has to wear a uniform for school, their pants with the reinforced knees are virtually indestructible!

I think top looks nice and will look great on you. That is cool that they wanted to send you a swimsuit for you to try on in your home so no fire alarms go off while trying it on.(hahaha)
Kerri
I absolutely LOATHE shopping for a swimsuit.
Hopefully I win so I can finally go swimming in a public pool instead of sitting on the sidelines because you can't wear shorts and a tank top in the water.

land's end is the best - for suita and kid's clothes too!
Coming from a fellow pear, as well as a momma to a beautiful 3 year old that replaces any letter combined with r with the f sound (CRispy is fispy, TRick or TReat was fick or feet, unfortunately that works with truck as well)....pick me, pick me!!!!
Lands End has fabulous layering shirts as well btw :)

This mom of a 4.5 year old and 2.5 year old twins would LOVE to look hot at the pool this summer.
Okay, maybe not hot. But I would love to have something that might disguise the "twin skin" that results from the beautiful, but large belly I developed while carrying my twins past 38 weeks!
If there's a suit that I'd be willing to be seen in after 7 kids, while I'm still nursing twins, I need it!
tawnydeleon@yahoo.com
WHOA!
What an excellent prize for someone.
Good luck to all :)
Sounds like a great gift, one for me!!!
I need a suit to hold up my boobs too and cover my C-sect belly!
I LOVE the top you chose.
I LOVE LAND's END, I just cannot afford it.

Dawn and Lands' End...two of the best!! Enough flattery? Love your blog and can't wait for your book!! Seriously, I gained 30 pounds over the last two years. I could sure use a new bathing suit which fits. Thanks Dawn!
Hi! Hope I win!!
I love their size selection, and I've always been really pleased with the fabrics and quality of my Lands End purchases.
A new swimsuit? Whaaat? But I've had mine for about 15 years! :)
Thanks for the chance to bring me into current fashion. :)
I am leaving my comment. I love Lands End clothes but have never tried their swimsuit.
aeshuron@twcny.rr.com
Hey - I want to win!
I LOVE Land's End. Pick me
There's so much to be said for trying on a swim suit in the comfort of your own home. I love Land End's plus size options!!!
I love Land End's plus size options - and who wouldn't rather dredge through swim suit shopping in their own home!
Ohhh i would LOVE a new suit from LE! Especially if that means I do not have to go into a room to try them on...and can try them on in the privacy of my own home! :)
I had a breast reduction (out of necessity) last year, and I desperately need a new suit. Well, I guess I could flash my in laws when we go swimming at their house......ummm, ok, I need a new suit. I love Lands End, I have bought clothes there for years for my children, however, I have yet to buy a swimsuit. Maybe this is the year:)
Thanks for the giveaway!!!
Cecilia
Love land's end.......which suit did you pick?
lordd1@yahoo.com
Oh wow! I have the same WW problem and could use a new suit! My neighbor just put in a pool and told the kids they could come swimming anytime they want (as long as mom is with them) YUCK! Can't I just sit inside in the air conditioning???
Dawn, I really love your blogs, but this is the first time I've commented. Unless you use an affiliate link for things you recommend, you're really missing out. I see that Land's End uses Linkshare, and your link is not a traditional Linkshare link. Unless you know a way of hiding affiliate links that I haven't heard of yet (and I know a few) you're throwing away 5% on the sales made from the ton of people you're sending their way. Most of your readers won't know the difference if you're using an affiliate link, but many of us would appreciate from you benefiting from your recommendations. Oh, and I'd love a new suit, too. Thanks.
Okay,
Not sure if you are picking from the BEST message, or just drawing randomly, but it's worth a try.
Just in case, I will leave a comment to say how WONDERFUL I think you are, and how BEAUTIFUL your kids are, and that I will buy TONS of your books, and...
that I haven't wore a swimsuit since before my twins were born 4 and a half years ago!
If I did win, I would have to promise myself that I would spend the money on a suit, instead of spending on the boys. That's usually what happens.
Okay, in the case you just pick randomly, I will stop here.
Here's hoping you have a great weekend!
Peggy in Iowa
Can I have a suit that will give me boobs?
If I could find a swimsuit that actually fit and looked good, it would be amazing. Then I wouldn't have to ask my sis in law to take my kids swimming while i sit on the sideline! Oh..pick me!!
Hey, I can use a new suit! Or I could use it for new uniforms for my kids next school year. They have great kids uniforms that last forever! But, I am always spending money on them! Decisions...
Sounds like a good deal to me!
I have loved Lands End forever. I also have had one of their bathing suits for 4 years. I think it is time to brave it and get another one. Thanks for letting me comment.
Leaving my comment :)
Have a good weekend!
Ooh! I have often browsed Land's End online and admired their swimsuits but I have never bought one. Thanks for the chance to win!
That's awesome! I want to win! :)
I'd love to win! For years my daughters' favorite winter dresses came from Land's End
Bathing suit? Talk about unexplored territory. Since having the triplets, I have been wearing a tank top and shorts. Oh what I would do to get rid of the extra "inner tube" around my waist. You are much more daring than me, I don't even go there.
Glad you like your suit. Do we get to see pics :)
What a great contest, I too would prefer to try on the swimsuit alone in the comfort of my own home. I get that totally. Thanks for all you do, you keep all of us moms on our toes and in stitches from laughter. :) Kim
Wow, that's a great prize!
Thank you for doing another awesome giveaway! Here's hoping I win! I sure could use a swimsuit that really fits! ^_^
Hi Dawn,
I don't ask much of my swimsuit, just that it:
* Hoist the boobs up
* Smoosh the hips in
* Suck the tummy flat
* Smooth out the bum
* Hide the back fat
* Make my feet soft and smooth
* Keep my toenail polish from chipping
* Keep my hair from getting greasy
* Stop the hair from growing on my legs and *other unmentionable places*
*Make someone who is a size 18 look like a size 8
Do they have a suit that does all that?
Thanks for the daily laugh,
Jen

Oh pick me!!!! I need one to hide my fat gut!!!
Land's End swimsuits are great quality, and they do have all kinds to pick from. Chances are that you will be successful finding something that fits and looks good.
Here's a comment, hope I win, I'm pregnant with my 4th, just at the end of it and can really use a new swimsuit for summer. Thats if I get enough sleep this summer to get out anywhere! Maybe Benedryl?
The suit sounds great. I hope I win so I can get one too.
I never considered the fire alarm going off while I was in the dressing room trying on swim wear, talk about a nightmare.
I LOVE Lands End swim suits, I have bought one from them in the past. Lands End definitely has that Miracle Suit! Hope to win so I can get a new suit this summer and don't scare all the poor people at the beach! :-)
I would love a new swimsuit! Count me in! (Haha, can I try and butter you up? Will that help my cause? I'm going to buy your book the second it hits the shelves. :)

Dawn, I would love to win and keep being the guinea pig fo rus pears out there!!!
Hi Dawn! I wouldn't mind a gift card! ;)
Cool! I have been looking for a new swimsuit, and I have been eyeing Land's End for a while. Now that I am over 35, (okay, almost 40!) the "mature" swimsuits really appeal to me, but these are super stylish as well! I love these!
I'm reading your blog quite regularly now. I guess if there is a prize involved I can leave a comment. Amy Lee, mom of four boys
I have always wanted to try a Land's End suit. I have heard lots of good things about them.
Crossing my fingers!
I have heard such great things about Land's End suits...I would love to try one.
Hoping I get to be the lucky winner!
I have looked at their suits and they are wonderful! I have the top/bottom issue to. And I can never find a top that looks good with my rather larger chest! Maybe I will be able to find one now! Thanks for the chance to win one!
I love Land's End clothes and would love a swimsuit from there too! :)
Hi Dawn!
Thanks so much for your honest reviews. I am a mom of 6 myself and hate swimsuit season. I received a Land's End catalog in the mail but thought it was too good to be true, LOL! After reading your review I think I might give them a try.
Thanks~
Beth :)
oh please oh please oh please, I have tiny saggy boobs from breastfeeding 4 children (2 years each!!!) and need all the help I can get, lol!
Can't hurt to try, seeing as how I have a completely irrational fear of bathing suits and haven't purchased one, oh probably since having children :)
Kimarie
What is it with those mirrors in the changing rooms? I swear they magnify everything to look 5 times bigger than they are! I love trying on clothes at home and getting the full effect (especially from my 7 year old son, who is just so honest!)
My friend sent me this link to your blog and I must say you are hilarious! You have a really cool job and it's great that you get to stay with your children at the same time :)
I Love Love Love Lands End swim suits. I've had them in the past, but with my new 40 year old butt, I'm afraid to buy without first trying on, KWIM?
I have never left a comment on either of your blogs but I have to say that I love to read what you write. I have read every single entry and can't wait until your book comes out in August. You inspired me to start my own blog to help stay in touch with family and friends who aren't close by.
I would LOVE a land's end gift card. I am a short curvy woman who is currently breastfeeding a brand new baby (#2) and could use a very supportive bathing suit. Here's hoping you pick me!!!
Pick me -- I really need a new suit and I love Land's End!
campdoza@ca.rr.com
WOW! I didn't know Land's End was so flexible with their swim wear. I usually just grab one off the rack and try it on at home and by then I am usually too chicken to return it to the store; humiliated because it's usually too small. After having c-sections bathing suit season is downright depressing to me. Maybe Land's End will have a suit that fit s my body rather the other way around!
Love to win -

me me :) What an awesome giveaway! :)
A Florida girl can always use a new suit... especially one that FINALLY fits her boobs AND body!
I love Lands Ends Swimwear, I always buy for my kids because of the durability but never splurge for myself. I totally agree with the whole trying them on at home....
jkemstewart@comcast.net
Hello, I love the color of the suit you chose to show in your entry. I hope I win it!
I've personally given up all together on the swimsuit idea. I wore my maternity one for three years after my last was born and hoped people would just give me the benefit of the doubt...that doesn't work anymore so I just don't go and my children live sad empty lives ^_^
Hi Dawn!! I love giveaways!! Well...here's my comment!!

What a great giveaway, thanks!
We love Lands End! In fact, I am Lands End from head to toe and underneath!
I used to buy my little one bathing suits from Target and such places, and would have to buy 5 or more at a time and then halfway through summer, have to buy more because a strap broke, or it got all pilled up on the bottom, or it faded and became see through. So, last year I invested in 2 suits from Land's End and they outlasted the summer AND she can still wear it this summer! They look brand new and I know at the end of this summer, they will be great for hand me downs.
I usually shop the discounts because it can get pricey.
Wow, what a nice offer! The only way I'd go swimsuit shopping, even online, is to win one. Thanks for the opportunity!
I'd love to win $$ from Lands End! I've done a great job getting rid of some extra weight and would love a new suit that looks GREAT on me!! 24 lbs down already!!
Those bathing suits sound absolutely awesome....I hope I win and if not then someone who is deserving of such an awesome gift.
Ooooh, I love Land's End! I've been wanting to get a suit from them forever - I'm one of those poor overweight women who do not have huge boobs so it's impossible to find a suit that really fits.
Count me in baby!
I have the worst luck with swimsuits! I have the opposite problem. Bigger on top and smaller on the bottom!
I would love to spend that money!! Thanks for the contest~
My first lands end suit lasted me 7 years! I won't get suits anywhere else!
Gotta play to win, so here goes.
Love Lands End stuff~~it wears well
I could get a suit for me and for the kiddos too, what a deal!

I love their suits. I haven't bought mine yet this year so maybe I'll get lucky! ~Funjenny

Ah, swimsuit season--it used to be a joy (before the kids).
Since I don't have to leave a clever comment, this is all I can say
moondance86@comcast.net
Since it is random I will not try and witty and cute and give you all the wonderful reasons why I should win. But I will enter, because that is certainly less frightening than the thought of actually getting a new suit.
Pick me, please!!
Your blog brings so much joy to my life. The swimsuit I have was purchased when I was in high school (I'm working on my Masters now...) so I think it's time I got a new one!
I would love to win!
I could use a new swim suit, I hope I win! :-)
Awesome giveaway from an awesome blog! Thanks for the chance to win!
plus size suits that would possibly last more than ONE season? I'm in! :)
Please pick me!
I LOVE Lands End! I shop with them all the time! I love that their styles of EVERYTHING are so classic! (and stay so nice that they can be handed down over & over & over & over...)
Oh, I LOVE Lands End suits. I'm still wearing the suit I got as a sophomore in high school. *ahem* Think it's time for a new one? :) (And yes, what looks normal for a mother of two does NOT look normal on a high school student!)
I'll try my luck!
Love your blog.

I'll try my luck!!

I've never ordered anything from Land's End before. It would be really fun to do the swimsuit shopping that way. I do NOT like trying on suits in the store...IRK!
Thanks for letting me have the chance!
A swimsuit that could possibly flatter a body that gave birth to three children and a set of twins? Bring it on! ;-)
I am scared of bathing suit season, but would gladly try again with a gift certificate. :)
Wow, you've gotten alot of comments on this one! Lands End has wonderful well made clothing, so I would love to have a $100 gift card. As of right now it looks like my chance of winning is 1 in 530, LOL!
I get to be the 531st entry! =) Thanks for talking up Lands' End - they're a Wisconsin company that really has excellent customer service!

I lost 33 lbs and badly need a new swimsuit
I love Lands End swimsuits! My 14 year old daughter and I drove all over creation looking for a suit to fit her. (She's loaded for bear)Until I finally thought to look at Lands End online. We found the perfect suit. She's happy. I'm happy. I have one of their suits too. It holds me in quite well. I think we should send some of that same fabric to the troops to use as body armor!
Hi Dawn, been reading your blog for several months now. It brings a smile to my face as I, too, have a six pack! I've been faithful to my resolution to get in shape and have (FINALLY!) worked my way up to burning 900+ calories an hour at the gym every morning! Now if the weight would start dropping, I'd be happy but so far, I've only lost 5 lbs in 8 weeks. Ah well, it'll come. As it is I'm just enjoying the 20 minute shower without interruptions or legos being thrown in the tub with me. A free swimsuit is just what the workout ordered! :) Hope I win!
This is probably the only way I will own a swim suit. I always reason that I am not going to pay all that money to get traumatized when trying one on. I'll traumatized myself for free, though. Thank, Dawn!
I love reading your blog, and especially love hearing cute stories about the kids. Also love your recommendations for fun gifts and stuff for kids. I never thought I'd spend so much for a bathing suit as when I bought my first Lands' End one, but now I'll never go back. The separates are great because of being able to order different sizes. And now you can return items at Sears and not worry about paying for shipping!
Thanks, Jan

I'm working in Florida this summer, and I am SO nervous about what I'm going to wear on the beach! Something to hold my boobs up, tuck my tummy in, and still not look like one of those 1920's shoulder-to-ankle suits!
This would really help! Hope I am the lucky winner!
Congrats on your success, Dawn! Been reading your wit for a year... thanks for the laughs and introducing me to the world of cancer families... it's heightened my awareness and sympathy. Can hardly wait for your book!
Since my 6 year old daughter told me I look like I'm going to have another baby when she "helped" me shop for an Easter dress, trying on a bathing suit at home sounds lovely! Sure hope I win! I think I'm done with dressing rooms for a while!
Do they have swim suits that make boobs look bigger, butts look smaller and hide stretch marks and varicose veins???
Pick me! Pick me! After losing 43 pounds, I NEED a new suit!

I'd love an LE swimsuit -- they're the only ones that hold up the giant boobs!
I've always said if you can't lose it..tan it, safely of course. Love the blog!
Dawn, I TOTALLY agree on the suits for teens - I actually wore Land's End suits up until I buckled too peer pressure in college. Well, that and my mom wasn't buying anymore. I'm glad you found something you like!! wildcatplh@netzero.com
Land's End (and Dawn) where have you been all of my overweight life? I just took a peek at the website and my head was "swimming" with possibilities. Thanks so much for broadening my horizons, Dawn. Chances are slim (ha, ha) but hope I'm the lucky one.
Peace and Blessings!
I'd love to win; thanks! Denise

Thanks for the info! I too have to shop plus size and think they all look "granny" flower yuck! I will be checking out the site for sure!
I just got on the mailing list for Land's End and was thrilled with the modesty of many of the suits. Two years ago my husband was called to Pastor a church three blocks from the ocean in North Wildwood, NJ!!! So... my little ones and I get to be there a good bit in the summer. I'd love to be picked as your winner, because I'm not sure I can splurge, even if it will last for years to come! Thanks for hosting the givaway and thanks for all the laughs!
