It's Mud Season!

This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Arm & Hammer.

Yay, it's spring in Chicago! You know what that means? Mud. Lots and lots of mud. The giant glaciers have finally melted and we're left with a big ole boggy mud pit. The weather is warm and my kids are itching to go out and play.

I look at my kids who are behaving like animals that have been caged since November. I glance out the window at my mucky, muddy backyard. I look back at my kids who are hitting each other with the remote control and gnawing on the couch. The decision is obvious.

"GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY!" I bellow. I know they'll come inside looking like they've spent the afternoon wrestling in a mud pit, but I don't even care about the ruined clothes I'll have to throw away. I need a break for crying out loud! The kids need fresh air!

Have at it, kids!

Jackson's pants are so encrusted with dried mud, they could stand on their own.

I have no clue how the hood of Brooklyn's sweatshirt got muddy. Maybe she was lying in the yard making mud angels.

Filthy

And here's Clay's shirt. Clay wiped his ketchup-mouth on his shirt. Clay doesn't know the difference between his shirt and a napkin.

Arm & Hammer with Oxi Clean to the rescue!

This stuff is thick! It's a thick, dirt-busting gel, and it works! I LOVE Oxi Clean and haven't found anything better to get my kids' clothes clean. And, believe me, with six kids, I'm a laundry expert! I do four loads of laundry a day, every day just to keep up! Plus, Arm & Hammer with Oxi Clean Power Gel has a fresh, clean scent (for those of us who buy things based on fragrance.)

Check it out!

Oh, it IS pink!

Nice and clean

Even Clay's napkin shirt is clean!

I don't have to throw out their clothes after all. I can't wait for baseball season! Bring on the sand and grass stains!

Great I am the first to comment so I probably won't win. I do like oxy clean stain remover but lately I have made my own detergent so haven't tried the detergent you reviewed.

Wow I am going to have to try that out!! My youngest son is playing baseball right now, and my oldest sons pants ALWAYS look like that!!!

Great job on the laundry. I don't miss those days of young children finding the mud. With mine mostly grown, the laundry challenges are different now. Looks like a great product I should try.

6 Stacy said...

Glad it works for you! Have fun in the mud!

7 Janet said...

Looks great! I've got two boys and they have been outside in the mud for the last two weeks. Do any of your kids have sensitive skin? I wonder if it would affect kids with sensitive skin.

Oh my goodness I could so use that! I am so tired out Shout'ing out all the stains from my daughters clothes! The worst part of being a mom I think.

I just saw a commercial on TV for this detergent! I think Oxiclean is great on stains, so this product must be super. Hopefully it works well on baby spit-up and diaper blow-outs. ;-)

I'll have to give this stuff a try. I don't have 6 kids, but my 2 sure know how to get their clothes dirty!

Kerry

63 Kelly said...

Wow - pretty good! Did you try to clean their socks with it too?
We had a mud day here this week - I let the kids stomp around in a deep mud puddle with "quicksand" mud at the sides. I didn't even try to save the shoes - they were growing out of them anyway. :-) But I did try to wash the socks. It required some serious prerinsing - I mean, they were dark brown instead of white - and even now, they're a bit... dingy. I think I managed to save the pants, though. :-) (ok, one pair was black to start with, so that helped!)

64 Jacqui said...

I need to try that. My 8 month is a hand on eater and no clothing is safe. And my 4 year old loves to roll in the grass.

65 Patty said...

Hey, that's what I use to get the Oklahoma Red Mud out of my little guy's jeans... I do wonder how Brooklyn got her sweatshirt so muddy!!!

I have a kid that's a fire fighter and I still wash his clothes, he's 24 but Mom still does his laundry. He actually came home with this laundry soap because the guys at the fire house recommended it. Works great on his smelly dirty work clothes.

72 Amjoy said...

I never win anything but I thought I would post anyways. I like clean clothes.

73 Annie said...

Wow, that worked great! I do a lot of laundry too, with three kids, a husband who works on cars and a home daycare. Oh...and I live in PA, which has swampy, muddy yards this time of year also.

74 Shasta said...

I haven't tried the arm and hammer plus oxiclean. I use the oxiclean stain remover though! It is awesome! I have NEVER used anything as good. Case in point, the baby had one of the diapers, NO ONE wants to change. I finally talked the hubby into taking her clothes off, I sprayed them, put them in the wash thinking they wouldnt come clean and I would have to trash them. Amazingly, you couldnt even tell they had been "messed" up.
I will definately change if it works so well!
Have a good night!

75 Joanne Lendaro said...

Amazing!! I need that kinda help with my crew's laundry! I NEVER know what I'm in for! Thanks for the great giveaway!!

76 Nicole said...

I love Oxi Clean and use it for my boys clothes. My 4 year old thinks that the silverware that I give him at meals is just a decoration so I always have plenty of stains to get out.

77 Michele said...

Wow, that is a great testimonial! I love both A&H detergent and Oxi Clean! And my Chicago suburban backyard is a mud pit too!

78 Lexie said...

Great timing to share about this product! Spring Break will give me gobs of extra laundry! Never get picked, but maybe this time...

79 Jen said...

I need to try that with my clan. My kids' socks could stand by themselves even after a wash!

80 Jennie in Fla said...

Coincedence but I just went to the petstore to find a shampoo for my aging dog that met his needs as a chow with sensitive skin but also my needs as an owner who can't stand the 10 yr. old mutt 'scent' he has. The sales clerk led me to a shampoo with everything he needed and I wanted- which included Arm and Hammer. The shampoo worked wonders on him so I can imagine the detergent. Good deal!

My two older boys use their shirts as napkins too! My husband has a hole in his lip and the baby, well he's just a baby and can't help it! Not to mention the 20 year old step-son who drops by to do laundry all the time. With all these guys around I go through stain remover like it's going out of style so I'd love to try something new that works and the extra money wouldn't hurt either!

I have never used a Oxy clean and am now going to try it. My 52 year old husband is horrible with stains. So much so that it's his job to pre-treat and get the laundry ready. I will definitely be giving this stuff a try - I have three boys; my 14 year old has ADD and my 9 year old and 4 year old both have autism. So combine boys + special needs + muddy spring + clothes are expensive + single moms don't have much money... yeah, the investment in a good detergent seems worthwhile. Your before & after pics were the selling point. :)

Seriously - no pretreating? that would be fabulous. I have a daughter that is very much an outdoor kid and she seems to attract dirt. My son attracts food stains (yes, he's almost 11 and still wears his food (mainly butter noodles)). Heck, even I have eating problems, just ask my kids. At almost every meal it seemed like for quite a while I was dropping food on my boobs once a day (accidentally!) - it was like there was a food magnet in my cleavage. So embarrassing. So anyhow, our house of slobs would love to try this!

Gosh, I remember that commercial, I think for Tide, that proclaimed it even got blood out of clothes. And like Seinfeld, I was alarmed that if there's blood in your clothes, perhaps laundry is least of your concerns.

Then I had my boys. And for crying out loud, if it's not the blood, it's boy gunk - some mixture of sweat, dirt and nature that exists nowhere on this planet except on boys. Seriously.

That sounds like good stuff! I have three boys and end up replacing half their clothes halfway through the season because you can't tell what color they originally were!

oh man! I have two rambunctious girls and a toddler boy who somehow attracts dirt like nothing I have ever seen! I'll have to give that stuff a try. I already use arm & hammer, but oxiclean is a bonus!

Seeing as how my 3 children manage to make their clothes look like that after the FIRST wear, and we just bought new Spring/Summer wardrobes of nice, white, pastel clothes....I SOOOOO need this!

I love it when I get a stain out that I thought would be permanent!

If I still had kids at home, I'd rush right out and buy some. My daughter swears by it!

Between my 3-year old and my husband I'm not sure who gets more stains on their clothes. My daughter uses the front of her shirt as a napkin too and after finding grape jelly on the seat of my hubby's shorts last week. I guess he wipes his hands on his butt when he's making sandwiches since I've found mustard on the seat of his pants before too. I would love to try that new detergent and if I win the gift card I will use it to buy some! :)

Very cool and very clean! I have a 3-year-old who seems to love random stains, and a very pukey almost-7-month-old - ANYTHING that gets out stains is welcome!

I could definitely use some of that with 3 boys plus this baby girl that spits up all.the.time.
