New Jersey or Bust

Coming soon - highlights from my trip to New Jersey.

Johnson and Johnson has invited several mommy bloggers to a Camp Baby event in New Jersey. I was chatting with Suburban Correspondant and mentioned that I was going to "New Jersey - the armpit of America." She responded with, "I grew up in New Jersey."
"Ohhh. Um, when I said armpit of America, I meant a nice, freshly shaved, Spring Fresh deodorant scented, armpit. Yeah. Really."

Does anyone stick their feet in their mouths as much as I do?

Then my friend Denise sent me an email saying that Newark had gone a whopping 43 days without a murder. They almost beat their record of 57 days! How thoughtful of my friend to inform me that I'll be shot on my way to the hotel, huh?

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to meeting other bloggers because I really don't know anybody. I never find the time to surf through the mazes of other blogs out there. I'm going to be the dork with no friends, just sitting in the corner in my maternity shirt trying not to look like an idiot. But, on the bright side, I get the whole bed to myself while I'm there. No snoring for two blissful nights!

Don't worry about Newark...odds are you won't be shot ;) Actually I'm a Northern Ohio transplant who now lives in NJ, I work in Linden and go to school at night in Newark. It's really not that bad. New Brunswick where J&J is is pretty nice, very good restaurants near what I think is J&J's main campus. Have fun and enjoy your visit to the Garden State (trust me once you get away from Newark there really are trees and nature and such...lol)

When are you going and what part of NJ? I have a 'vacation' home in Cape May, the most beautiful city in NJ - you must see it.....Have fun, enjoy the lovely beaches and get some good produce from a roadside stand!

Us New Jerseyian's are pretty used to people bashing our state. I don't blame them, though. The Turnpike in NJ is through industrial parks and swamps, not exactly good scenery! But, drive on down to south Jersey (I mean, exit 2 Southern Jersey), and it is much prettier! Have a great time in my state!!!! Christine

Northern New Jersey is pretty, too, dammit.

What exactly is it you are doing at this "thing" anyway?

New Jersey is not all that bad - those of us who live here think of North and South Jersey to almost be two different states. I had a friend form north Jersey and when she came to visit me she couldn't believe it was still NJ! Have a great time!

A guy I went to college with was from New Joyzee...and told everyone he met that he was from the armpit of America. I'd never heard that expression before, and thought it to be hilarious!

Then we visited Vegas a few years ago, and found out where the other armpit was.

I have lived in northern New Jersey for over 9 years. I am about 35 miles west of Newark and it is very nice here.

You crack me up! I wrote on my blog recently about how I still wear maternity jeans, 2 years after giving birth to my last child. They are SO comfy though! lol

Sorry this comment is coming many months after your original posting, but this is my first venture over to this blog! :)
