It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

The other day, while I was shopping, I noticed a "back-to-school" display! I practically danced down the aisle. Yes! Woo Hoo! Back-to-school time! I grabbed a notebook and inhaled the fresh scent of paper! I flipped through the blank pages, just waiting for inspiration. I fingered a set of crayons, colors vibrant, points intact. Ahhh, a parent's utopia.

My kids, on the other hand, walked quickly by the aisles while calling to each other, "Quick! Close your eyes! Must. Get. Away. From. School. Supplies. Ow, it burns. It burns!"

Although I'm looking forward to accomplishing more during the day and hearing a lot less fighting from the kids, I'm actually not looking forward to school starting quite yet. (Shhh, don't tell anyone I said that.) But really, I hate the early morning routine and the homework battles. Summer's kinda nice in that respect. But whether you're counting down the days to school or dreading that first day back, the fact is that back-to-school time is fast approaching.

One thing that should be on everyone's back-to-school list, is a Lands' End backpack. I've always heard that Lands' End has THE BEST backpacks out there, but I've never coughed up the money for one. I buy my kids the cheap backpacks you can find at Target or Meijer or whatever. The thing is - I have to replace them every year. Sometimes they don't even make it through the school year. This year I'm investing in some good, strong, well-made backpacks. After seeing the quality of Lands' End swimwear, I have no doubts that their backpacks will be stylish and, more importantly, durable.

Here's the cool part - one lucky winner will receive a free Lands' End Multitask Backpack. Features of this backpack include:

Stash panel for a jacket, sports gear or bike helmet
Separate bottom chamber to stow a set of shoes
360° reflective trim to keep kids visible
Mesh side pockets to hold water bottles
MP3/CD player pouch for tunes

In addition to the backpack giveaway, Lands' End is offering FREE SHIPPING to all my readers! How better to shop for backpacks, lunch boxes and back to school clothes, than from the comfort of you own home? Sure, you'll save on gas, but even better - you won't have to drag your kids out shopping with you! That alone is worth its weight in gold (or gasoline)! Just shop online at Lands' End between July 31 and August 6, then simply enter the coupon code BACKTOSCHOOL and the pin 2382 when checking out. Can't beat that! Shop HERE for back-to-school clothes and uniforms, and look HERE for the Lands' End backpack guide to help you find the perfect backpacks for your little scholars.

Just leave a comment on this post for your chance to win a Lands' End Multitask backpack in the color of your choice. (I'll choose a random winner on Tuesday, August 5.) And start enjoying free shipping on Friday, July 31!

Oh, those are so great! I need to get one instead of getting the cheapo backpacks - even if the fabric manages to hold up on the cheap ones, the zippers don't!

I have used the same Land's End backpack for 9 years, and this is FINALLY the year I have decided it is time to replace it! Land's End packpacks are worth EVERY penny - the quality can not be matched! They make great laptop and/or diaperbags, too!

I should win because August 6th is my 14th anniversary! *grin*

I've never had a LE backpack, but in college, I bought another name brand one, for the HUGE sum of $25, with leather on the bottom. That sucker lasted me through several years of school, and is still going strong, probably 15 years later! I think the zipper may be giving out, but yeah, quality lasts!

I have actually been looking at that one for my 7 1/2 year old son who is going in to the 2nd grade this upcoming school year. He saw it in the catalog and told me he just had to have it. I've never spent that much money on a back pack and have been wanting to buy it but haven't had the extra $40 at the moment. To win it would be wonderful so here is my comment and wishing me Good Luck! Fingers Crossed and all that other stuff! Good luck to all the others out there who have entered too! Growing up, I got el cheapo backpacks every year. Until I got a job. I decided I was getting my own, awesome cool, NICE backpack. This was 1992. I bought one from LL Bean, with my name embroidered. That bag was sweet. So, Two years of high school, many many semesters in college, and now as my daughters overnight bag. It is still hanging tough and in great shape...except I can't get it back from my kid. She needs her own!

I think my son carries old batteries in his backpack by the way he is able to cause the bottom of them to disintegrate. A good sturdy backpack that could make it through the whole school year would be AMAZING!!!

I would love to win a sturdy backpack!! I did buy another $12 one at Wal-Mart recently, but experience has taught me not to expect that it is going to survive through the end of the school year. After spending a small fortune on school supplies and school uniforms (why do they always outgrow all their clothes just before school starts back??) I just can never get myself to spend even more on a better quality backpack.
Also, my 9-year-old has complained about his "babyish" carry-on suitcase with the trucks on it and requested a more grown-up piece of luggage to take to sleepovers, so this backpack would come in really handy for that, too!

I would love to win one of these backpacks for my son.

Thanks.

I've heard great things about Lands' End backpacks, but never can justify spending the money on one. Count me in for your drawing. Thanks!

Lands End and L.L. Bean are both top notch. I still use my L.L. Bean backpack from high school, it's that durable. Well worth the cash, and even better Free :)

I've bought a lot of lands End products over the years and you are right, they do hold up really nicely! I have a few diaper bags from them that I'm still using! I would love to win a free backpack!

If I don't win one, I am going to buy one. Actually I am going to buy one for all three of my kids. I, too, am tired of throwing away old raggety pacs.

I always buy the cheap ones and replace them every year. But now that I'm going back to college- why shouldn't Mommy have the fancy, kick butt backpack? ;)

I'd love to have a good backpack like that to make it through the school year! Thanks for the giveaway!

Hubby bought a heavy duty backpack for our 14 yr old last year. It was twice the price of the mesh ones they are allowed to carry in school. It should last longer than that $39 mesh one. I still have 6 that need school backpacks. I'll have 7 in school this year. :)

These look great! Land's End always has great quality stuff. I swear by their snow boots for my kids.

My son would love a blue backpack and I would love it if it survived to next summer! (If it's truly a survivor - I'll be a LE customer for life!) Thanks for the timely giveaway! beezerly (at) yahoo dot com

I'd love a backpack for one of my grandsons. However, if I win, I guess I'll have to cough up the $$ for the other grandson. After all, I'm a fair Grammy!

Oooooh, that backback looks awesome:) My oldest is going off to preschool this year. I can't believe all that back to school stuff finally applies to us!

Love Land's End backpacks. My older son got his in second grade and carried through fourth. It still looks great; however, I got his name and a baseball stitched on it and he now thinks that is too "babyish". We need a new one!

I have mixed feelings about school starting too. Our kids go back next week! I won't miss them fighting with each other but I am dreading the early mornings and the homework battles! They are at the age where they are excited to go back but I know that will change in a few years.
Land's End backpacks are great! That is what I used in HS and they didn't have so many cool features and options like they do now. Definitely worth the money as they will last a long time.

Yep, they do have fabulous backpacks...my youngest used one for at least 3 years untile he grew out of it. I'd love a free one for my youngest, and it's even his birthday :)

Love, love, love Lands' End backpacks. They last forever, even when you wish they wouldn't...say when your now 5th grader put something sticky/gluey/gross and crumbly in the front pocket back in THIRD grade. We are still plugging along with it but without using the front pocket...don't even know what is going in there!

My oldest (of 3- can't imagine the craziness that would come if doubled) is starting 1st grade this year. Didn't really need a backpack last year, but wondering if it might come in handy this year. Thanks for the code.
