Just Jawin' Away

...on my new Jawbone, that is.

Moms are the queens of multi-tasking. Tell me, when was the last time you did nothing but sit and relax while on a phone call? It doesn't happen. While talking on the phone, I change diapers, fold laundry, make lunch, and clean the kitchen floor. I make almost all my calls while doing chores or driving. I have a feeling most of you know what I'm talking about. Do you have any idea how many times I've inadvertently disconnected my friends and family while talking on the phone and doing some other task? I think I disconnect my mom nearly every time I talk to her. And at least half of those times it's by accident. Kidding. Just kidding, Mom! Seriously though, I'll have the phone cradled between my shoulder and ear while I fold laundry and I'll turn my head to yell at the kids tell my kids something and suddenly I hear a dial tone. How often does this happen to you?

And growing evidence indicates that cell phone use is a contributor in car accidents. Several states and jurisdictions have enacted laws prohibiting handheld cell phone use while driving. Many other states have introduced legislature proposing similar bans. Chicago is one of those jurisdictions that has banned hand-held cell phone use while driving.

Hands-free is the way to go both for talking on the phone while scrubbing toilets and making dinner and for driving the kids to soccer practice and running to the grocery store. The new Jawbone lets you talk while going about your day. And without accidentally disconnecting your call too. (Well, as soon as you learn not to push the unit into your ear while talking because you can inadvertently hit the "hang up" button if you do. Sorry again, Mom.)

Believing that products worn on your face should look nice, they've designed the new Jawbone to look like a classy accessory and not a big honkin' piece of technology. But despite the fact that it looks like jewelry, it really is a cool piece of technology featuring the patented Voice Activity Sensor which eliminates noise and let's your voice come through loud and clear. The new Jawbone is 50% smaller than the original Jawbone which means, you don't have a big ole microphone hanging down your face. This is good because you won't feel the need to ask people, "You want fries with that?" while wearing the slim new Jawbone.

The Jawbone comes in 3 colors: black, silver, and rose gold. Each unit comes with 3 sizes of ear buds, and 4 different ear loops for a customized look and fit. And you can charge it by either plugging it into an outlet or your computer.

Now here's the cool part. I have a new Jawbone to give away to one lucky reader. Here's the deal, leave me a comment on THIS post and let me know how you multitask while on the phone. I'll choose a winner this Friday night. Good luck!

I have 3 boys (ages 3, 4 and 5) and we are always on the go! It's off to aikido, soccer, swimming lessons and all making sure that the 3 year old gets enough potty breaks or else we're in trouble. ur state just passed the law banning hand held cell phones and I'm behind the times with technology. I would LOVE a fashionable Jawbone to replace my CORDED, nerdy headset for the car! What a fun prize.

I use my cell phone at work LOTS, it is the only contact I have with the office. I'd LOVE a bluetooth, and already have the phone, just not the bluetooth.

If I am on our cordless, normally I will put it on speaker phone while I am doing something...its not such a great idea to be talking on the phone and trying to get ready for church at the same time.

If I am on our office phone which has a cord, I am normally sitting at my comp, playing a game, instant messaging my friends and family, looking up my fav. websites, on facebook or myspace. Just try having an online conversation going AND a phone one! Can be a bit tricky at times!:) (Key is just to say hold on (or h/o) )

But multitasking is tons of fun! ;)
But as far as I can remember, I haven't hung up on anyone before while holding the phone between my head and my shoulders...pressed buttons but haven't hung up...yet.

I am the queen of multi-tasking while on the phone! I can make dinner, "correct" my children, surf the internet and drive all while on the phone. Although I will not talk on the phone from the bathroom. There is nothing worse than talking to someone and hearing a toilet flush!

Anonymous said...

I talk on the phone while I clean dishes, while I fold laundry, while I get the mail, while I yell at the kids, while I pick up toys, while I make beds, and the list goes on and on!!!

Anonymous said...

I do it all, Dawn......but if i could just figure out how to wash and dry my hair while on the phone.....even better.....

Anonymous said...

I use it while on computer, watching The View, and listening to hubby?

Are you kidding. I have cooked dinner changed a diaper and bandaged a wound at the same time. NOt sure how I do it I just do.

Multitask, I work (oops...probably shouldn't admit that). I guess there is always laundry to do and so there is a lot of that. I have also been known to scapbook, groom dog and just about anything. Would love to try that little gadget out.

It seems like I have so many phone calls to make during the day. Every company leaves me on hold for at least 10 minutes. I feel like I am wasting time working out in the basement when I could be working on the phone. I think I would use this while on my elliptical machine. The caller would get to hear my heavy breathing and I would be feeling productive.

I usually embroider or on the computer or walking around moving this item to where it belongs and picking up an item there and move it where it belongs. My daughter in law usually calls every night my son has two jobs so gone in the evening and after the granddaughter's go to bed she calls. Some times my neck gets cramped from holding the phone.

Oh, i do just about everything while i'm on the phone! I try to avoid going to the bathroom unless i'm on the phone with dh or a really good friend :)

I love this thing....oooooo I hope I win! I have a really bad habit of driving with my knee and using my hands to hold my phone and eat or drink rather than keeping "2 hands on the wheel at 10 & 2!" Everytime I get one of those earpieces you have to plug into the phone I end up stepping on it and tearing it up - This would be Great!!!! Thanks for the chance to win!

i multitask too many things at once! usually, each morning, my best friend calls and during that chat i know i can makes 4 beds, load the dishwasher, fold a load of laundry and pick up the many piles of "stuff" my 3 daughters have left around. if Patty calls me on my cell phone, i can do all this AND run to the grocery store to load up on the daily items, which often bring me down atleast 7 different aisles during our conversation. before i know it, i'm home, unloading the groceries, running back upstairs to switch laundry loads and back to folding! Essentially, during this 1 conversation, I can get a majority of the day's chores done. Her calls each day really keep me on task. if for some reason she fails to call, my day is chaos and little gets done!

This is the first time I've commented on either of your blogs. Let me first say that you have a God-given talent to write and to make your readers laugh. I always get a good laugh while reading.

When I talk on the phone, I used to consider it my time to sit down and rest. Then I realized that I get more done while I'm on the phone for some reason. I'm usually doing a sink load of dishes (since I'm the dishwasher in our home), changing diapers, doing laundry, cleaning potty chairs and toilets, sweeping floors, mopping floors and breaking up a series of several fights between my children. Since most of my friends have multiple children also, I get to hear them doing the same things:)

I'm an awesome multitasker. I can change a flat tire with the cell phone between my shoulder and my ear AND keep a 2yr old busy at the same time! Of course, a bluetooth would make this so much more easy!

Love the photo of your jawbone, Dawn. I did notice your cute earrings. You got those while you were in California, right? :-)

I usually talk on the phone while fixing dinner, loading and unloading the dishwasher, switching out loads of laundry (it is really hard to make sure those pants are hung just right when you have your neck at an odd angle to hold your little cell phone between your shoulder and your ear), and of course while I am driving home each day after picking my daughter up and giving her a snack to eat while we are in the car :-). I have even been known to take the occasional phone call while in the shower....but I really wouldn't recommend that with a jawbone!

i use my cell phone as my "home phone" so i don't tie up the house line with my friends (like my dad needs to worry about taking messages for me!!) so i multi-task all the time on the phone -- cleaning, scrapbooking, working on homework, etc etc etc

Oh boy do I multitask while on the phone! I am the proud papa of identical twin girls that just turned six and one half months old. I do laundry, cook, dishes, fold said laundry and keep the yard nice. Not to mention, feed and changing duties. I nearly dropped one while taking her out of the bath in the sink and she was still alittle soapy. If I were to have been on the phone she would have bit it I am sure. Being hands free is the way to be but being a first time Dad to twins... I cant quite afford it.

My favorite multi task job while talking on the phone is doing the dishes. It just makes the job go by faster when you do it while talking on the phone! I also make dinner, do laundry, get the mail, and talk to my kids while on the phone! What mom couldn't use a free hand by using a headset for talking on the phone? This is a great give away!

WOW! I think I do all that you do while I am on the phone, but want to do more...like weeding and watering my very sad excuses for flowers OUTSIDE! This would be perfect for me....as long as I can talk my hubby into a new cell phone with blue tooth technology! ;)

How don't I multi-task. There is so much to get done in a day it is interesting to think back on how you accomplished all you did in one day. While on the phone at work I am usually emailing people back or chatting on messenger...at home I am walking around organizing, folding clothes, putting things away, what can't u multi task?

I live on my phone! We only have cell phones, no land line, and it is impossible to hold a small cell phone on your shoulder. I have a corded headset, but am pretty much a klutz and am always hooking the cord on door knobs, and anything else that I happen to walk past, and yanking the thing out of the phone and off my ear. Not so good for the wires in the cord either. :)

Is this giveaway open to Canadian residents? My family all lives in Western Canada, I'm in Eastern Canada. It is 4hrs. later here than there so I often get called while I'm putting the kids to bed. I try to talk on the cordless while getting them ready and tucked in, I have to put them hold a lot if I need to hands to pull on a jammy shirt or something. This is really neat and nice looking too!

Multi-tasking is an understatement- sadly, I'm one of those that is attached to my phone- it's my life line for work and I'm on call 24/7. Even more unfortunate, my bluetooth just broke and there went my freedom. Balancing the darn phone on my ear while I'm chasing after the dog, trying to make dinner, working on my computer, answering the door, sweeping the floor etc all at the same time has become quite impossible! This new bluetooth would be a lifesaver. Thank you!!

Hi Dawn,
Just like you I am forever multitasking while on the phone! From doing laundry, making meals, cleaning, wiping butts (theirs, not mine), giving dirty looks to any child that dares to interrupt me while on the phone. Hope to win! Maybe it won't be so obvious that I am on the phone anymore. The kids will think I'm talking to myself like usual and leave me alone.

I live in CA where they just enforced this law that requires you to use a hands-free device while driving. Not that I'm one of those jerks driving around, constantly gabbing on the phone but...since this law has been passed, there always seems to be someone I need to call while on the road and now I can't! I know my disdain for authority and my need to buck the rules (the little ones at least) is some deep rooted psychosis that I can blame on my childhood, lol. To make things worse I am a notorious tightwad. I'm not going to church it up and call myself "frugal" or "thrifty"...the fact of the matter is, I am just plain cheap and I refuse to buy a POS bluetooth because, well, it's a POS, and I can't force myself to part with the amount of money that jawbones cost. It's a sickness I tell ya, and my girls will either inherit it or become compulsive spenders. Anywho....I'm entering to win!!! Love the blog, Dawn. Thanks for making this penny pinching rebel without a cause smile.

That is one cool/nice looking piece of technology! I have yet to venture into the hands-free mode around the house due to the fact I *HATE* my hands-free device. (I only use it when I have to take a call in the Chicago limits.) Multi-tasking at home involves, dealing w/ the kids, cooking dinner or cleaning up dinner, constantly telling the dog to move out of my way, and trying to carry on an intelligent or just coherent conversation with my much younger sister.

This is just what I need! I multitask all the time and manage to get most of my chores done while talking on the phone. We just moved into a state that bans phones while driving without a head set. As The driver of Mom's Taxi for the twelve year old and running around like a mad chicken the rest of the time 90% of the calls I need to make are from my cell and in the car. My speaker phone hates me and Disconnects me all the time. I've managed to kill atleast 2 headsets and a speaker on ap hone in the last 2 years. Being the family secretary, chef, taxi, drycleaner and laundry, Maid and Accountant as well as mom and wife this is one of those gotta have it if you ever want to keep up with the phone.

Ok I don't have a blue tooth and never thought of getting one. We all multi-task at one time or another with a phone...I mean come on we are mom's we never stop multi-tasking...But my hubby on the other to multi-task anything is about as common as you getting a good night's rest...See he is a stay at home dad and we talk on the phone quite a few times a day. I swear he can't talk to me and even pick his nose at the same time. Then he complains and get's mad at me for calling him while he is doing something. You know he might actually have to turn off the water wipe his hands and pick up the phone to talk to me...go figure....He keeps begging for a blue tooth so that he doesn't have to "strain his neck" to talk to me while doing other things....I just can't fathom spending that much money to make things "easier" for him LOL! I think this item I might spend the money on though just so I can say hey you got a blue tooth...just because it looks like a girls earring doesn't mean you get to complkain still LOL!!!! Great product I do like this one though! Keep up the amazing work...and don't forget to answer the phone while you read this LOL!

How do I NOT multi task while on the phone...I think the best was when I was nursing my little one, talking to a friend, my husband comes in and says, since you're not busy, could you give the bath tonight? She's putting shampoo in her hair now.

I have saved a phone or two with drying out techniques, but it would be wonderful to get rid of the crink in my neck and not fear electrical shock.

I'm sure my family would appreciate me getting a cool new bluetooth and ending all the hang ups! Well, at least half of them... *Grin*

How awesome is that?!

Oh, to be able to multi-task...and make calls while driving!

We live 1500 miles away from our most of our families, and while most of the time that is great, we've reached the point in the last 6 months where it is not so nice. My mother had a stroke, was in the hospital, there are other issues going on with my MIL that might necessitate a move nearer us and one other son fairly soon (the sooner the better), a son in the Army and one stationed in Iraq, another college age son and two daughters at home, a husband who runs a cabinetry business and needs something at least once a day. Add to that an outside job where both my bosses are out of state 40+ hrs a week, 3 dogs, a cat and not enough hours in the day to get the laundry and household stuff done...and it's hard to do when holding a Razr phone to your ear...they don't do well and yeah, disconnected mom, both sisters, mom, husband, sons, mom...you get the idea. A rose colored bluetooth might just save what little is left of my sanity...if it is even worth saving....

Oh my - I could really use a hands-free! It's now illegal in CA to drive without hands-free (yet somehow it's still ok to text? Anyone else see a problem here?) Anyway, I *used* to make calls in the car, but now I can't and just using the speaker phone part isn't so good. Somehow my Dad always manages to call me when I'm feeding one of the girls - hands free would SO help that!!

Hi Dawn! I have 4 kids, and just today while I was on the phone for about 5-10 minutes, I made 2 breakfasts, cleaned up a broken egg off of the floor, disciplined 2 of the kids for wrestling, took candy away from my 3 year old that he'd found on the floor, put stamps on about 7 envelopes, made myself a cup of coffee, and double checked my older two kids' orthodontist appointment time. Oddly enough though, I'd give the jawbone to my husband, who I'm not allowed to talk to until he's about 30 minutes away from his job, as talking on cell phones is illegal in the city of Chicago. Totally stinks if I need him during that time! Thanks for the opportunity - how generous are you?!

Jenn said...

I'm usually surfing the 'Net or reading e-mails while on the phone. Don't tell any of the people I talk to though!

Anonymous said...

Dawn, that's totally awesome! I could really, really use that jawbone... My latest foray into cell-phone-mom-multi-tasking ended in a terrific splash... as my phone landed in, yup, you guessed, it, the toilet. As my 4-yr-old was about to hit the flush valve. It was not my finest moment. I fished it out and scrubbed it with soap in the sink, all the while torn between thoughts of hating the fact that I just retrieved this from an unflushed toilet, and OMG, I am putting my phone under running water ON PURPOSE!!

I had good advice, and let my phone dry out completely before turning it back on. So the only damage was to the ringer sound quality... and the speakerphone. You see how the jawbone would really come in handy... now I can't even use the speakerphone while I cook anymore! I would just get a new phone, but my upgrade is due this Dec. and I just got this phone... after the last one slipped over the railing above and smashed into a hardwood floor... Don't ask... It's been a crazy third pregnancy so far...

I have so much trouble using the phone to do anything other than talk...I can barely walk and talk. If someone calls me while I'm out walking, I say I'll call them back. Maybe my problem is having to hold my phone up to my ear--I already have spatial processing issues, so I'm paying even less attention than usual! I could definitely use a Jawbone to eliminate that hurdle and maybe learn to talk and walk at the same time.

I also try to make doc appts. and catch up with friends and work on church publication projects while doing all that other stuff.

But the 13-month old is the new "wrinkle" to my finely (haaaa!) tuned multi-tasking - the unknown entity if you will. But learn I will, and believe you me, after this loooooooong wait to adopt her, I CANNOT wait!!!

I can't sit still and talk on the phone. It just isn't possible. So I do laundry, dishes, clean the house and even garden all while on the phone. I've gotten in trouble a few times when I've dropped the phone in the washing machine! Ouch.

I multitask all the time. I talk on the phone while cleaning and cooking. Actually I get a lot done while talking on the phone. I also like to drive and talk on the phone but don't without the blue tooth. I used to have blue tooth but the headset does not work anymore.

Actually, I'd really like this for my husband. He recently had a job change and is on the road A LOT. I'm home with our 2 year old and his calls are my sanity check! I'd like for him to be able to call while traveling, without me having to worry about him driving off the road. Thanks!

I'm constantly hanging up on family and my friends while talking on the phone. My two year old daughter wants me to give her the phone so she can talk and will hang up on the caller. If I had the jawbone this would hopefully (crossing fingers!) not happen. I'm always on the go taking my son to school and camps. Plus, doing dishes, cooking, laundry, trying to poor a glass of wine...

I do just about anything on the phone (except drive). When I do have to talk on the phone, I'm usually online, or working, or cooking.

My husband really needs this, since he's lost his "redtooth" My boys call it this, because it's red, and not blue... LOL!

I don't have a landline so I do everything on my cell. Handsfree would be helpful during diaper changes, that's for sure. And it might keep me from absentmindedly putting my phone in the fridge instead of the milk.

Once, while driving, I was talking on my cell phone and pumping a bottle for my baby. I recognize that was not the smartest thing to do, but it worked for the situation. I'm pretty sure I'm one of the reasons why they are enacting laws against driving while talking; I will say, however, that I think there are far more dangerous things that can be done while driving. Driving with children can be quite distracting.

I use my cell everyday. I have not bought an ear piece. This one looks really cool.

We don't have a house phone anymore so my cell phone is my only phone. I am always on it while chasing the twinfants around from the two different directions they have crawled in; or trying to change diapers while somebody is crawling away or the other is grabbing the one I'm changing. I'm a multitasking momma to twinfants + 3 teenagers.

I put my cell on speaker and simply yell at whom ever is unlucky enough to be on the other end... be it doing dishes working in the garden or doing something with the kids... I do try not to converse when driving as I know that eventually it could be a bad thing for me or someone else. but everything else is fair game...

As of July 1, our state (WA) has gone hands free.......and so far I have refused to comply.
for one thing I hate that my rights are being taken away, but it is still legal to put on make-up, eat, and/or drive with your dog on your lap. I'm just rebellious that way I guess.

Besides that I got wind of the fact that my cell phone carrier is being bought out by another at the end of the month, so it was no use for me to go buy new equipment that will be obsolete for me by the end of the month.

So I still drive and talk on my hadheld cell phone, and sometimes I yell at my kids at the same time.....!!

With 5 kids I usually have to hide outside if I really want to have a conversation. I don't have it in me to just sit though, so I usually pull weeds, trim trees, tend the garden...my house is a wreck, but the yard sure looks good!

I believe ALL women multi task. It's just something that is bred into us I think. I can't just be on the phone and relax when there's so much to do. What a waste of time when you can be cleaning, folding and cooking while on the phone. I too have hung up on more people then I would like to admit to. I think it's the way my head forms to the phone it automatically hangs up on peeps! I NEVER use the bathroom while on the phone tho, it just grosses me out! BUT I will talk while in the bathtub!

Let's see... Multi-tasking for me can include, but is not limited to:

Hmmm...I'd never have thought of wearing a barrette in my ear to talk on the phone, but it is a little less Jetsons looking than the more common Bluetooth devices. And since I've been playing Russian roulette with the new CA law that's been in effect for a month, it might be a good idea to get legal. (Well, technically, I have been legal since I don't put the phone to my ear to talk on it, but somehow I think they're going to close the loophole that lets you hold the phone in your hand while it's on "speakerphone.")

At our house the kids think our phone technology is in the dark ages. Our land line has a rotating dial and during a phone call, one cannot get further away from the phone jack than the phone cord can reach. This has sadly limited our opportunities to learn multi-tasking. We mostly just use our cell phone when we are away from the house. But now I see with a new jawbone I could get my household chores done at the same time i'm catching up with family, and it would leave more time to read BLOGS!!!

This just happened to me tonight! I was driving home at 8:30 pm after picking my 10 year old up from soccer camp (I had to sit for an hour because I thought it was over at 7:30!). My 4 month old son was screaming. My phone rang. It was my husband calling from Iraq. We get home and I try to juggle the diaper bag, the infant seat, my keys and the phone while trying to unlock the door. What is my daughter doing? Holding her water telling me to hurry up, she's tired. :::sigh:::: Back on track here. I continue to talk to my husband through our crappy connection while changing my son's horribly gross diaper (Perhaps why he was screaming in the car. I'd scream if I had to sit in that.Yuck!)and trying to make up a sign to tell my daughter that she does indeed NEED to take a shower after 6 hours of soccer camp in 100 degree weather without interupting or missing what my husband is saying. After that I continued to talk with him while holding the baby in one arm, the phone propped on my shoulder washing bottles, changing the laundry, unloading the groceries I forgot in the trunk and letting the dog out. I would LOVE a hands free device. Add in different chores and this is how my days have gone since my husband left. I have nearly dropped my phone in the sink and the toilet several times while trying to juggle it while multitasking. There is some unspoken universal law that says I can NOT sit down and talk with my husband, or anyone else, because the world will then stop. I always think of getting a hands free headset but between a 10 year old, a new baby and paying for my tuition 100% out of pocket, I just can't justify spending the money for it. I'm sure there are lots of people who would love to win one. I'm just a little fish in a big pond but I will still keep my fingers crossed.....if I could but I'm doing too much. :)

Well lets see, now I only have three children who are 7, 5 and 4 but if you include my husbands two dogs that means I have 5 children. So while talking on the computer to my husband in Iraq, making another dang appt. because so and so pushed so and so off the bed and though it looks like it needs stitches I would rather try and make an appt, as this would be the 10th time I have been to the ER in this month, thank god it's almost over. Then the dogs start barking outside and I have to go yell at them before one of the neighbors complain, while walking back still on hold for the doctors office, taking the laptop to the laundry room and start folding laundry. That seems a typical day of multitasking in our home.

It's so annoying when the phone slips about, sometimes right into the tub, when I'm trying to turn the page.

What's even more annoying is when I tried to catch the phone and my book takes a dunk.

Hi Dawn,

What Mom doesn't multitask while talking on the phone? Sometimes, a phone call is my only connection outside my "compound". I have been known to do all the following while squeezing the phone tightly between my ear and shoulder (I feel a crick in my neck just thinking about it...)
okay... deep breath....

-Unload groceries in my car, Set the table, cook dinner, clean the pool, feed the dog, chase after the dog after she runs out of the yard, scold the dog for making me look like a goober chasing after her with a phone wedged between my ear and shoulder, break up 67 fights between any of my 5 kids, fold laundry, fold laundry, fold laundry, clean crayon out of my dryer, hunt for crayons in all unwashed laundry.... I'll stop there... I'm tired...

I like to multitask by getting my workout at the gym done while talking on the phone getting the latest gossip, making doctor appts and doing the misc phone calls because this would be the only time some little one is not screaming at the top of their lungs while I am on the phone. So, you can imagine what a luxury it would be to have the Jawbone to continue doing these same things minus the appointments to the chiropractor for the bad neck, lol!

I just knew that as soon as the little guy latched on the phone would ring! i loved it and I stil use it today when I am in the house. I have always wanted something like this for my cell, but they are usually way expensive.

My husband has a 45 minute commute. Because he's in the car by himself (where it's quiet), he thinks it's a great time to call me and talk about our day on his way home. However, life is not so quiet in my world. I have usually just walked into the house with two hungry, cranky kids and need to start dinner. So, while trying to keep the phone gently cradled between my ear and shoulder, I am juggling dinner, snacks, breaking up fights, potty breaks, etc. All the while, trying to stay engaged in my husbands conversation without him knowing about the chaos going on around me or dropping the phone in the sink. I could definitely use one of these...

Over the past two years I have been very busy, working 5 jobs (2 from home) and trying to fulfill my duties as wife and mother. To say that I multi-tasked during this time is the understatement of the century! I was always doing a dozen things at once and trying to remember what came next, where I needed to be, and what I needed to bring with me. I found my cell phone was invaluable. Pity that I can't seem to find an ear piece that works for me. It's a pain to drive a stick shift and talk on the phone at the same time.

Now that I am expecting a new arrival to our family, have cut down the jobs, and am working on packing up my house and moving 2800 miles, it would be nice to have something to keep me from trying to shift while I talk.

Love your blogs, love the blue tooth phone, love it!

I have two girls age 9 (read 21) and 4 1/2 (read 13), and being on the phone now has become a task. Not so much a chore, but a task, because sometimes I have to go hide. I mean how many times can you hear "Mom i have to use the phone to call so and so " what? No.

Sometimes I am not so lucky. Lets see - dishes is one of the things I do the most of, driving (of course), laundry, and well I've dropped the phone on more than one occassion, maybe thats why we needed a cordless and it wasn't that the batteries went out but shhh don't tell hubby because we are sticking with the batteries were just not recharging. Then there's the obligation of lego cleanup...my girls scatter them. It's like Legos come out and they must be everywhere. And with back to school we have to add - the looking in backpacks, throwing the proverbial "I couldn't eat my sandwhich I wasn't that hungry" lunchbox cleanout, and the millions upon millions of signature sheets. LOL I kid you not. Last year everynight I had to sign my name at least three times. This year with two, it could be double that. EEEPS. I have to go back and hide under the sink, this is sorta depressing.

As a stay-at-home (yeah, right) mom with three kids (10, 5 & 1) multi-task has become my middle name. What a great way to not "lose" my family and friends while I make dinner, change a diaper, do laundry, transport kids EVERYWHERE, assist my youngest with physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy. What a great way to not "upset" my friends when I "disconnect" them!!

Having returned to school at the age of 4o something, I have not only found a study-buddy who became a long distance friend, but my daughter is now enrolled. Taking online classes fits well with my life, but there are times when it is necessary to be on the phone helping each other, working together with other students/team members on projects, or just making sure everyone is on the same page. It is hard to talk on the phone when your head is trying to hold the phone in place, while typing on a keyboard and or taking notes. The Jawbone would really make the long distance working together a easier option.

Dawn,
I dont have kids, I have only been married a little over 5 months, anyway, for me multitasking is being in my husbands car with the dog crawling the space under the dashboard ending up at my feet while trying to break, while being on the phone and drinking soda, and trying to grab/shove the dog out of the way with my foot so that I dont rearend the car in front of me. Not overly exciting but he is a really cute dog. And he is like a child to my husband and myself. He is 9 years old and his name is Thunder and he is a 10 pound shiu tzu with big brown eyes and curly hair.

It's a bit hard trying to keep two toddler boys quiet, while driving down the road, on the phone with the office, and listening to my husband in the passenger seat (we carpool) tell me how to drive as he sits back and does NOTHING to keep the boys quiet! Whew! What a mouth full! I feel guilty for talking on the phone without a headset, even before people really got into using them..I try not to talk while driving, but that seems to be the only time I have a moment to actually get anything accomplished!

ooh, that's cool. Need one that works on cordless phones as I use my land line more than my cell.

Coolies! A phone that wont slide from my shoulder and plop into the sink while doing dishes!
I could do almost anything while talking on that phone. It looks awesome.

Okay my story (hope you have time) I'm a SAHM and homeschooling mom to my children. I have one son who is 6 and in kindergarten-Cody. I have one son who is 4 and is in preschool-Landen and then there's my baby Jack who is 2 and I have to keep him busy somehow while teaching my others. Then there is the fact I'm pregnant. YES you guessed it with my 4th BOY... oh why oh why did we try again? My day:
"Sit down it's time for math. No, playing Diego on playstation does not count towards animal science! I don't care if it's SHARK week on Discovery you still have to eat breakfast. No poptarts don't count towards a serving of fruit! You're all done with math? Yes you can go outside and play! Cody and Landen did you leave the hose on in the backyard? Do you see our new backyard pool? NO I DIDN'T WANT A NEW POOL! Uh-oh is that lunch the dog just ate? Darn-it the washer is overflowing again! Great there is gum on EVERYTHING in the dryer. I told Cody to throw away gum not stick it in his pocket when he is done! I said to buckle your seat belt before we leave the drive way for baseball, karate and tumbling class or else you'll fly all over my car! I know you want to fly but I'd rather you not fly out of the van on I-5. When we get home go take your shower and this time clean under your arms and wash your face. Make sure you clean your face before your butt too! For dinner we are going to have fish sticks because I can't take another day of that non-stick pan that everything STICKS to!Jack, stop sticking your food under your chair, you're still going to eat it. I don't care if there is lint stuck to it! What do you mean last night you had a bad dream about Giants eatting you... I don't care you're still going to bed! Tomorrow when I wake up I hope that I'll have a new jawbone so I don't have to tape the old bluetooth to my head with a headband again.... oh yes and note to self (I need a new non-stick pan)

Well I think that it would be easier to list the things I don't do while on the phone....well there really isn't anything I don't do. This would be great and take a little stress off the neck!

I do everything while on the phone! With three kids, and a 4th on the way (with a very rare, very severe birth defect that is causing us to have to make TONS of specialist visits, research options, find financial funding for the treatment, etc etc etc), not to mention my own medical issues (just call me Mrs. Train Wreck and you'll have it all covered) I live on the phone. I've killed several cell phones by dropping them while trying to do other tasks...into a sink of water while trying to bathe the cat (or wash dishes or a kid), into a pot of food while I was cooking dinner (thereby ruining not only my new phone but the dinner as well), into the toilet (ahem), down two flights of steps while trying to carry a screaming fighting toddler who doesn't WANT to go back to the doctor!)...you name it. And, I had a really nice bluetooth headset...and my hubby very kindly stole...errr...borrowed it and I suspect I'll never see it again LOL

SO...anyway...I'd like a chance to win this...it looks way cool :)

Also...is that one half of your San Francisco earrings peeking out in the picture? ;)

I have triplet 8-year-old boys, as well as a full-time job with a software company. I made the very intelligent decision to work from home this summer, so they could be at home instead of day care. My phone time consists of holding conference calls with international customers, while folding laundry, breaking up arguments/fights, coaching the kids' soccer team, as well as doing my job. Having a Jawbone will allow me to chase one of the boys down, while still holding a semi-intelligent conversation.

I guess it's not me I'm leaving the post about, but my dad. He has a phone in his bathroom. So, while he's working on 'business', there are many times he's on the phone...

I have a 2 year old with autism, who takes 30 hours of therapy per week, and a newborn son. Need I say more? I barely know if I'm coming or going, I wouldn't eat if I didn't multi-task.

I work full time, raise two active boys and run my household all by myself. Talk about multi-tasking! I'm all for just about anything that will make my life just a teensy bit easier. I love the design of this cool new Jawbone and I'd never be able to afford it for myself.

for me multi-tasking normally consist of cooking dinner, washing dishes and helping son with homework while running a load of laundry and helping hubby find a piece of paper with a phone number but no name all the while yelling at 7 yr old daughter to put her cloths back on (she likes being one with nature). surprisingly enough i have never burnt a meal ....by accident that is. i have burnt a few on purpose. LOL haven't you ever heard of blackend mash potatoes?

Being "with" my husband is the only thing I have not done while on the phone! (OK, just kidding!) But I have done a lot of multi-tasking!

I would love to have the jawbone, there are certain towns near where I live that have banned cell phone use while driving, and it would be nice to have and use at home while taking care of my 6, 3, and 1 year old.

I do everything while on the phone-laundry, cooking, changing a diaper (got have some skills for that one...LOL!), drive, type on the computer, etc. This would make my kneck hurt a lot less an be safer for the car.

Although this thing does look fancy, I'll stick to the old-fashioned but oh-so-convenient method of accidentially (or so, ;-)) disconnecting, *biggrin*.

So long,

I am a stay @ home mom of 2 kids. We are currently in the process of moving to my family farm. This farm has been in the family for over 100 years. Through all the craziness of getting ready to move, finishing up renovations on our current house and getting the farm house ready to move into, the phone for some odd reason keeps ringing! UGGHHH! I can't get anything done if everyone keeps calling me. This would help out a BUNCH! Keeping me my time crunched schedule from going haywire!

Thanks for the opprotunity.

Yes! Please pick me! My husband needs one of these for his work as he's the catering manager for a restaurant. But the restaurant can't seem to manage without him when he's out on a catering.

I usually talk on my cell phone while driving, it's the only uninterruped block of time that I can count on. I also do everything while on the house phone and always hang up on everyone too. I love reading what you write but I have a question. When your new website is up will all of your blogs be there?

The hardest of all tasks to do while on the phone is out on the farm. The usuall is when I pull into the drive way and my son 18 mos. is screeming to get out and play with the 7 CATS, 7 GOATS, 5 COWS, 4 DONKEYS, 1 DOG and any other creature that wondered into the yard cause someone was in a rush or on the phone and didn't have a free hand and left the gate open. Often times I have to call a neighbor or two to get all the animals back in while I am watching my son and being sure he isn't trampelled and watching the animals to be sure they don't kick or run into my vehicles. Boy would a Jawbone come in handy on the farm!!!

Sorry, I don't have time to list the ways I multi-task using a bluetooth. I gave up landlines years ago when I found I could talks and walk, drive, type, cook, shop, reach for grandkids, hand out snacks at Awanas. Oh, my! It's already getting too long. But it's so much fun for an almost seven decades aged woman to hear a teen say: "Hey, did you know your earring winks blue?" or "Cool! Grammy's a techie!" But -- mine was a shipping error freebie years ago and is almost worn out. A new Jawbone would keep my jawbone active and give me lots more of that free time. If not for me, may God bless the use of the one the winner receives.

I am a techno-lamo still struggling with the eternal question: iphone vs blackberry? Currently, I am using a Wal-Mart purchased $15 phone because I ran my "nice" cell phone through the washing machine. I did this because of course I had the phone in the pocket of my robe and then the baby threw up on me and I had to change to buck naked by the washing machine and just throw everything in without thinking about it. Oh yeah, all while holding the Klingon baby who just wanted his mommy! Superfun!! I live in California where it is now verboten to talk and drive (on cell phones that is....talk on handheld cells not drive on them. Driving on them is still legal). Getting a nice hands-free device would FINALLY make me go out and get a new/nice phone.

I have 2 boys and 1 girl(7, 4 & 4 months). We are always on the go and I am forever on the phone at the same time while throwing a happy meal in the back seat, listening to either Alvin and the Chipmunks CD, LazyTown or the VBS cd we just purchased along with many others(I even find myself listening to them when everyone is snoozing and there I am bopping away to the music)...even better when you are singing the songs to the person on the phone...LOL! I would love an earpiece to help me do this all in a bit more style...LOL! Thanks!

I have three kids, ages 4, 3 and 1. I work from home for my husband's company so I am working/stay-at-home mom! Between the kids and work there are way to many tasks that I have done while on the phone to list them all!!

nursing, typing, running (own biz), phoning, blogging, surfing, winning? :)

How I multi-task... I can do dishes, bake a cake, pay bills, and even leave a comment on your "Because I Said So Reviews" by being hands free! I actually broke my bluetooth headset because I use it so often! Here's what happened: I work on commercial laundry equipment, and I had pulled the top off the huge washer (the kind you can put 10 baskets full of laundry in ONE wash cycle) and I was leaning over the top of the washer, while on the phone with the manufacturer diagnosing the machine, when it popped off my ear, slid down the INSIDE of the machine and landed in a puddle of water at the bottom (the reason I was fixing the machine.... it leaked!) and well, electronics and water do NOT mix! (Shrug - what can I say? I was multi-tasking!!)

Cheers! BTW, I LOVE YOUR BLOG!!!
