I Am Stuck on Band-Aid...

I remember, back when I only had 2 or 3 kids, taking them to the doctor for their check-ups. As they sat there, their little legs dangling over the side of the table, I noticed their shins were covered in bruises and scrapes. "Great, the doctor is going to think I beat you guys," I remember muttering to myself. Instead, the doctor came in and reassured me they were normal. He went on to tell me it was the kids with no bruises on their legs that he worried about because they likely sat around watching tv all day instead of going outside to play and get scrapes.

So, I'm here to tell you that scrapes and scratches are part of childhood. When you have stupid adventurous kids like mine, bruises and scrapes abound! See exhibit A...

That's why I always have a supply of Band-Aids on hand. They come in handy when my older boys think up idiotic things to try and they're invaluable when the little kids come to me with invisible owies that need Band-Aids. Somehow, putting a Sponge Bob Band-Aid on a tiny microscopic scratch makes it all better! Not to mention, the time I use the Band-Aids on actual cuts and scrapes that need covered. And especially during the summer, when the kids are out getting dirty every day, their owies definitely need to be covered. Seriously, it amazes me how dirty my kids get in the summer. I think they're getting tan until they take a shower and their "tans" wash off.

Band-Aid has a new product that is waterproof (a MUST when you spend several days a week at the pool!) and has antibiotic ointment right on the pad. These help prevent infection and heal boo-boos faster than regular bandages.

Another product I have to keep on hand especially in the summer, is Neo To Go. It's a small spray container of Neosporin that's convenient to take along in your purse, diaper bag, or tote bag of necessities for the beach, pool, zoo, park, etc. My kids love it because it doesn't sting. I love it because, when we're out and the kids get hurt, there isn't always soap and water around, and this kills germs to help prevent infection.

Johnson & Johnson has 5 sets of waterproof Band-Aids plus antibiotic ointment AND Neo To Go to give away to 5 readers. Just leave me a comment here and I'll choose 5 random winners on Thursday, July 9. Contest open to U.S. residents only. You must check back here Friday to see if you won and you have 3 days to email me with your shipping address. Good luck!

Wow, I am the first one?!?! I must admit, I laughed so hard at the video. It reminds me of something my 9 year old would do!!!

I hope I win, I have been going through bandaids like I go through underwear!!! Literally. My daughter is obsessed right now!!

I always keep a supply of the neosporin band aids on hand. They come in handy when the husban.. er I mean kid does something to hurt himself. I keep seeing the spray but haven't yet managed to buy it. I can see how it would be as useful as the band aids... and waterproof band aid?! extra special perfectness!!

I am stuck on Band-Aid brand too...when you have twin three-year-olds who like to play (and are klutzy like their mother), you learn that Band-Aids are a necessary accessory! :)

wondering, how easily does the eno to go spray? i've seen it in the stores and even picked it up but then inevitably have visions of the inside of my purse or diaperbag covered in the stuff.

I get more cuts than my autistic kid does, but then again, he rarely falls. He wouldn't wear a bandaid, anyway, so the spray would be good for him...and the bandaids for me.

Nice, what mom doesn't need this for their toddlers and older kids?! :)

My kids are forever getting cut or scraped and it seems, this time of year, I have to add bandaids to my weekly grocery shopping list.

Oh, and like yours, they get SUPER tan in the summer. Well, during the day, at least. At night, magically, they are white again. Well, their bottoms are, lol. There is quite the farmer's tan going on down there. What is it with boys insisting on not needing clothes? Maybe I shoudl just give up and start a nudist colony.

Ok, THAT had nothing to do with bandaids. I ramble. Ooops.

Tina in Ohio said...

I'd have to keep these "good" band-aids out of reach...I have to buy a large supply of the cheap ones because #5 treats them like stickers. Every owie (or pretend owie!) deserves a bandage.

Contrast that with poor #1, who wouldn't be given a band-aid unless there was actual blood. The silly things I took a stand on before #2, 3, 4, and 5 came along!

Thanks for the giveaway, Dawn!

This would be great! My kids make me put the neo on the bandaid first anyway and we are always running out of bandaids! I'm glad bruises and scratches are normal - my kids have lots on their legs. Do you know if Band-Aid makes hypoallergenic band-aids? I need to find some for my teenager - she seems allergic to the regular ones. Thanks for the contest!

I have a child that gave herself a black eye walking into a window sill. This same child fell at school and split her lip wide open. The family jokes that if the wind blows the wrong way she falls down. We love taking bandaids and making them pretty by coloring on them with permanent markers.

Awesome! I love convenient, "to-go" sized stuff! Especially with all the other crap, er, I mean STUFF we pack into the diaper bags/purses. Who has room for full sized anything these days? Thanks Dawn & Ban-Aid!

Melanie said...

I love my neo to go. :)

leaner said...

My youngest used to think band-aids were stickers. She would coat table surfaces with them, and her legs adn arms, too.

Now we reserve them for cuts and even the occasional "invisibooboo".

That neo-to-go stuff is AWESOME! (It doesn't hurt because it has an analgesic in it.) I keep it in my purse along with Arnica, rescue remedy, and a couple of band-aids. That covers all manner of owies.

Andrea said...

I haven't seen the Neo to Go before. What a brilliant idea! I would LOVE to win it! :)

My 3-year-old recently applied a whole box to his, ahem, boy bits. The removal process was interesting and most likely, a bit painful for him.

Anyway, I need some more band-aids now. ;-)

We go through a lot of band-aids with those invisible scratches too. However, we definitely have our fair share of real owies. This past week we were on vacation and I think my 3 year old had at least 2 - 3 injuries every day. Not all of them needed band-aids, but I am glad I brought along a new tube of neosporin and bandaids for the occassion.

Jayne V. said...

LOL ... That video is priceless. It reminds me of my brother. As for bandages we have different levels of aid: the invisible owies get the $ store bandages, the slight bleeders get the character Band Aids, and then the real scrapes and cuts get the waterproof Band Aids. So, we go through a lot in this house!

Kymy K said...

Now that my twins are 2 & it's summer I have been meaning to get something like this for the car. Too bad every time I stop in the band-aid isle they start screaming at each other, me & any passersby because the cart stopped & I say screw it!
