It's Mud Season!

This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Arm & Hammer.

Yay, it's spring in Chicago! You know what that means? Mud. Lots and lots of mud. The giant glaciers have finally melted and we're left with a big ole boggy mud pit. The weather is warm and my kids are itching to go out and play.

I look at my kids who are behaving like animals that have been caged since November. I glance out the window at my mucky, muddy backyard. I look back at my kids who are hitting each other with the remote control and gnawing on the couch. The decision is obvious.

"GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY!" I bellow. I know they'll come inside looking like they've spent the afternoon wrestling in a mud pit, but I don't even care about the ruined clothes I'll have to throw away. I need a break for crying out loud! The kids need fresh air!

Have at it, kids!

Jackson's pants are so encrusted with dried mud, they could stand on their own.

I have no clue how the hood of Brooklyn's sweatshirt got muddy. Maybe she was lying in the yard making mud angels.

Filthy

And here's Clay's shirt. Clay wiped his ketchup-mouth on his shirt. Clay doesn't know the difference between his shirt and a napkin.

Arm & Hammer with Oxi Clean to the rescue!

This stuff is thick! It's a thick, dirt-busting gel, and it works! I LOVE Oxi Clean and haven't found anything better to get my kids' clothes clean. And, believe me, with six kids, I'm a laundry expert! I do four loads of laundry a day, every day just to keep up! Plus, Arm & Hammer with Oxi Clean Power Gel has a fresh, clean scent (for those of us who buy things based on fragrance.)

Check it out!

Oh, it IS pink!

Nice and clean

Even Clay's napkin shirt is clean!

I don't have to throw out their clothes after all. I can't wait for baseball season! Bring on the sand and grass stains!

Thanks for posting about this! I think I have tried every stain-remover on the market, including all the color-safe bleaches, Oxi-Clean--you name it, I've tried it! I love that you posted before and after pictures; I will be picking this up the very next time I go to the store!

Ooooh-I bet $200 bucks could buy lots of that stuff, and my 3 are magnets for dirt. My 7 year old daughter has this magical ability to just look at her laundry and stain it.

I never needed anything like this with my first daughter, but my second loves to get dirty! :-)

As a Mom of 4 I am constantly battling the war with stains too. This is a great product and smells wonderful!!!! I would love to win the gift card. Thanks for all your contests Dawn.

Oooh....I need to try this! Maybe this will get the grass & mud stains completely covering the back of my 7-year-old daughter's WHITE (well, at least the front is still white!) shirt.

That's awesome stuff - getting the ketchup out with no red stain left behind... I'm sold! Question though - is it available in HE versions for HE washers?

Cristen said...

I was just talking to a friend of mine who has children the same ages as mine 9 and 1. I was asking her HOW DO YOU GET STAINS OUT? We did not come up with a good answer but throw them out MUCH LIKE DAWN says..... so I will have to give this a try to prevent my children from running naked.
Thanks for the review.

With lots and lots of scrubbing and spraying and rinsing, I just saved my favorite white sweater covered with something vaguely pinky black (what!the @$##!. I know OXY works well, so think this might have done the job much, much easier!

Oh my, with 5 children, I could certainly use something effective on removing stains...

Suz said...

$200 would help pay to have the septic tank drained (again). I usually use a stain stick on the super-fresh stains on our napkins, er, I mean, clothes. I've been known to use Goo Gone on weird random leftover sticker remnants. What? I don't know how they got there! I just do the laundry!

Janis said...

I would love $200! Seriously, I would really, really love it!

I am going to have to get some of that... I have no idea how my 3 1/2 year old princess gets so disgusting every day! :)

That would be perfect with the Coke I pour in when I wash Hubby's boat uniform (submarine stink), its the only way to get the stink out of it.

I LOVE Arm & Hammer - I've used it for years! My husband and I have a blended household with 6 kids ranging from 3 - 23. And we got a load of dirt to try to level out the yard last week, so the kids dug holes and built sand castles - and all the ground in dirt came out!

(Hey, pick me, random picker!)

I am impressed! My biggest struggle is getting stains out of clothes so any advice is good advice! Thanks!

Laundry is never fun, but winning $200 would make it a little more fun for awhile!!!

With 4 children of my own, I also do lots of laundry...not as much as you though I'm sure. I would love to be a winner!

Wow! Stain removal is a good part of my daily routine! That stuff looks awesome. I'm a huge fan of oxi clean. It saves me (or at least my clothes).

Wow! I could have used this product when my kids were young! But it would still be great for my husband and I and visiting grandkids.

I love Arm & Hammer baking soda for all kinds of cleaning around the house. It gets red dye off countertops lickity split. So I am sure that the laundry soap would do just as well. Sign me up for the drawing, please. :) I could use a $200 gift card, as I, too, am getting a divorce and just moved. I need it since I only have half a kitchen, half a bathroom...well you get the picture.

I read your review and had to go out and get me some of this detergent! I was so excited when I took the stinky sweaty boy clothes out of the dryer and they actually smelled clean and not like dirty socks! I even had to go and smell them a couple days later just to make sure it wasn't just the detergent scent covering the sweat smell, but they still smelled like clean clothes! I have now officially changed my detergent to Arm and Hammer, so even if the number picker doesn't pick my number, I'm still a winner!!

It's definitely mud season here! My son comes home covered in dirt and dust - his bathwater turns black!
