It's Mud Season!

This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Arm & Hammer.

Yay, it's spring in Chicago! You know what that means? Mud. Lots and lots of mud. The giant glaciers have finally melted and we're left with a big ole boggy mud pit. The weather is warm and my kids are itching to go out and play.

I look at my kids who are behaving like animals that have been caged since November. I glance out the window at my mucky, muddy backyard. I look back at my kids who are hitting each other with the remote control and gnawing on the couch. The decision is obvious.

"GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY!" I bellow. I know they'll come inside looking like they've spent the afternoon wrestling in a mud pit, but I don't even care about the ruined clothes I'll have to throw away. I need a break for crying out loud! The kids need fresh air!

Have at it, kids!

Jackson's pants are so encrusted with dried mud, they could stand on their own.

I have no clue how the hood of Brooklyn's sweatshirt got muddy. Maybe she was lying in the yard making mud angels.

Filthy

And here's Clay's shirt. Clay wiped his ketchup-mouth on his shirt. Clay doesn't know the difference between his shirt and a napkin.

Arm & Hammer with Oxi Clean to the rescue!

This stuff is thick! It's a thick, dirt-busting gel, and it works! I LOVE Oxi Clean and haven't found anything better to get my kids' clothes clean. And, believe me, with six kids, I'm a laundry expert! I do four loads of laundry a day, every day just to keep up! Plus, Arm & Hammer with Oxi Clean Power Gel has a fresh, clean scent (for those of us who buy things based on fragrance.)

Check it out!

Oh, it IS pink!

Nice and clean

Even Clay's napkin shirt is clean!

I don't have to throw out their clothes after all. I can't wait for baseball season! Bring on the sand and grass stains!

Four kids, 3 dogs and one husband who can't seem to remember to change into grunge clothes before he changes the oil on our cars..ugh!

Heck, I'd love to try anything that doesn't have me downstairs mixing concoctions of laundry soap, pre-treater, vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda, and water into some potentially-hazardous paste to try to get stains out of our clothes.

I will definitely have to try this detergent out - in fact, I think there is a bottle in my laundry room that I got on sale one day. I have three kids, ages 5, 4 & 3, and they are constantly dirty!

I love Arm and Hammer detergents -- not only do they work, but they tend to be a good price too. Double bonus.

Michigan Mama to 2 said...

Hey, how'd you get pictures of my kids clothes in there??? Except the clean one's must be your kids clothes, mine don't come that clean after the wash.

Anonymous said...

I'm a single mom of three boys (two of whom have autism), so I've pretty much given up on them having non-stained clothing. Plus they seemingly outgrow their clothes before I can even move them from the hamper to the washer. But now that my oldest is 14 and has slowed down a bit on his growing (and because I want to be able to hand his clothes down to his younger brothers), maybe it's time to give this stuff a try? (I usually just use the store brand detergent in an attempt to save money).

I wish this product didn't have any fragrance at all - I have to add OxyClean to All Free & Clear because anything else irritates my daughter's skin wicked badly! If I got a free sample of this product I might try it on one load, though.

Bonnie said...

My kids' laundry isn't usually the problem (although with a middle schooler sometimes the odor of the laundry is intersting) but my husband. He never thinks that maybe he should change his clothes before he heads out to the garden. Sometimes he'll come home from work and just decide to do a few things. So, instead of having one or two pair of gardening pants, virtually every pair he owns has mud stains on the knees. I'll have to give this a try!

Jaime said...

I used to use Arm & Hammer (loved it)before I started making my own laundry detergent (very frugal). Then our washer gave out (it served us for many years). Our new washer is a high efficiency washer still under warranty, so I can't use the homemade detergent. I wonder if A&H w/Oxy clean comes in HE? I'll have to go check that out.

that detergent actually has me curious, I may have to try it, I like oxiclean a lot.

Liz said...

My 5-yr old doesn't know the difference between shirt and napkin either. The right sleeve of just about every shirt has some sort of unremovable stain. And my 2-yr old has to be disrobed after dinner every night. I don't even bother with bibs any more because it gets all over the rest of his clothes anyway. I LOVE Oxi-clean and I've tried Arm & Hammer. Maybe I'll have better luck with this one!

I picked up some OxiClean spray a few months ago on a whim (I usually use SprayNWash), and BOY does it do a great job. It unfortunately cannot handle the stains I let fester for weeks on items stuffed behind the washer (lost) or things we forget to spray, then bake on in the dryer, but what can??

I'm still partial to the fact that blood (we had a plague of bloody noses this dry winter) comes out quick with some oxyclean and a little elbow grease under running cold water - even if it dried on a bit overnight on a pillow case.
