Jawbone ICON

Need an idea for Mother's Day? The new Jawbone ICON lets Moms multi-task by giving them hands-free connectivity. You know, because that's what moms do. They multi-task. I don't think I ever talk on the phone while just sitting down. Never. I clean the bathroom, wash dishes, fold laundry, pour cups of juice and make grilled cheese sandwiches, and tell the kids they can't bring the sandbox into the house all while talking on the phone.

But do you have any idea how many times I've inadvertently disconnected my friends and family while talking on the phone and doing some other task? I think I disconnect my mom nearly every time I talk to her. And at least half of those times it's by accident. Kidding. Just kidding, Mom! Seriously though, I'll have the phone cradled between my shoulder and ear while I fold laundry and I'll turn my head to yell at the kids tell my kids something and suddenly I hear a dial tone. How often does this happen to you?

The Jawbone ICON bluetooth headset is good to use around the house, but it's even better for driving. You have to have a hands-free device to talk while driving in Chicago (and many other states and cities). And now that my oldest kids are just about to driver's ed age, I'm especially conscious of my behaviors while driving. I want to make sure they pick up good habits from me.

I first wrote about the Jawbone 2 about two years ago. I really liked it at the time I reviewed it. The only thing that bothered me about the unit is that the talk button was inconveniently located, in my opinion. I inadvertently hung up on people often with the older model. The new ICON is awesome though! It's smaller than the original Jawbones and super simple to use. The talk button is now in a location where I don't accidentally press it during a conversation. The ICON comes with several customizing options, including an earloop and several earbuds for perfect fit. And, of course, it still comes with NoiseAssassin which blocks out background noises really well. Your caller won't hear the kids in the background fighting over the last piece of pizza! It's amazing! Seriously, you have to try it!

I've got a new Jawbone ICON "The Bombshell" (pictured at the top) to give away to one lucky reader! Leave me a comment here with how you'd use this to multi-task to be entered. "Like" Jawbone on Facebook HERE, then leave me a comment saying you liked them for another chance to win. I'll choose a random winner on Friday, May 7th. No purchase necessary. Contest open to U.S. residents.

I was given an Jawbone ICON to review, but was not paid to write about it. As always, my opinions are my own and are always honest.

I would love to have this! My husband needs it when he drives. I can't tell you how many times I've been talking to him as he drives home from work, when... bam!... the phone goes dead. He calls me back a couple of minutes later and says he just passed an officer, and had to throw his phone on the floor. Please Pick Me!

I would use it to be able to talk while I took a walk around the neighborhood - much handier than walking around with my elbow out!

I just "liked" Jawbone on Facebook.

This would be so awesome to have while breastfeeding my 6 week old. Plus I would also be a cool mom and my oldest daughter would be seen with me in public... not breastfeeding mind you.

Breastfeeding, walking, washing the dishes, folding the clothes, hanging clothes on the line, changing a diaper, painting the walls, sewing....wow, the things I would love to be able to do WHILE talking on the phone.

I would use it to sit in car rider line at school, to fold laundry, to wash dishes, and to go for walks around the neighborhood. I would use it ALL the time!!

Gee Dawn,I don't know if I really qualify here. While I do have man-boobs, I just don't have any children to hok them up to. My only kid is 25,and off in Law School, and I am fairly sure he would resist.

But, the product itself is assuredly an item I can make excellent use of. It has very high user-ratings at ZD-Net, so I know that the company is not only a good one,but that real people actually LIKE the ICON headset.

Since you are going to slect your winner "randomly" would ya mind tossing my name into the hat too? It might be nice to NOT have to fish my phone OUT of the paint pail AGAIN!

I could use this big time!!! In the car, during conference calls, while I'm doing laundry and making dinner... and it would eliminate the kink in my shoulder from holding the phone with it while my hands are folding laundry!!

Well, since my home phone isn't hands-free friendly, I would use it in the car or whenever I use my cell phone. I still don't have a hands-free device for my cell phone and have been very mindful of not breaking the law now that the laws are more strict.

i would love to have one of these for driving! we recently moved to a place where everywhere we go... grocery store, dr. office, gas station we have to get on the interstate! i definitely don't have an extra hand for the phone! and i know i would use it while cooking and cleaning. awesome!!

I would love to have this! It look more like an accessory that blue tooth headset! In our area it only illegal to talk holding your phone in school zones.

I will have 4 children 6 and under in a few months. As my oldest starts kindergarten and we have a new baby, I would love to have one of these!

I'm always on the phone while driving. Maybe going handsfree would be a good thing. :)

This would be awesome! My kids watch EVERYTHING....and the last thing I want them doing when they start driving is holding onto a phone to talk at the same time.

I would love to have one of these things. Would make being outside all day with my boys so much easier.

I liked Jawbone on Facebook! (I prefer the "old" days when we became a fan of a company lol)

I'd use it to just take care of every day life - plus I can't sit still long enough to hold a phone conversation without doing something else!

My husband commutes 3 hours a day and we spend a lot of time talking on the phone to get in any "quality" time together. I would love for him to have something that would allow him to keep 2 hands on the wheel, talk to me, and not have to hear horrible "road noise" in the background because I'm on speaker phone!

ooooohhhhhhhh I thought the picture was like a water bottle or something...I see it now that I looked at teh picture of all of them.....I love this!

Wow, I would love this. Driving two boys to all their practices this would make life so much easier!

Resistance is futile!

Really I'd love one of these. It would keep me from having to store my cell phone in my bra (digging it out in traffic is distracting and embarasses my children). I have special needs teens so I'm constantly getting calls - and I drive a lot so hands free could be saving lives! Plus my teens might think I'm cool... OK, not really. Still I'd love to have my hands free so I can blog... um, I mean do laundry and wash dishes!

I would use this to help me when cleaning house. I seem to get more done when I'm talking to someone.

I would use this to multitask in a very important way - taking a bath, giving myself a mani/pedi and drinking a glass of wine. Bwahahahaha, I crack myself up. How about doing laundry while trying to help with a child's homework and figuring out what PTO items I'm forgetting? And maybe tossing some dinner making in there, too. :)

It would be great to have a Jawbone ICON! I wanted one but had to settle for a cheaper one that falls out of my ear, grrr.

I would love to have this. It looks pretty neat and is useful! Like other posters, wish I had it when I was breastfeeding.

I am in the van all day, drop off in the am, pick up at noon and 3. Then out again for sports. My 4 kiddos plus 2 that I keep, keep me hopping. I would love to have/use this!
Thanks!

I would give it to my daughter - so maybe I could hear what she was saying instead of her three kids in the background. She has very vocal children, ages 1, 3, and 5 and I can usually only understand her at naptime. (When the kids are asleep, not my daughter or me.) Thanks, Betsey

I just 'Liked' Jawbone on Facebook. At least I think I did... I tried to like it. I really love it, I just don't do too much FB, and I'm not sure I liked it right. Thanks, Betsey

It is nearly impossible to dig my phone out of my pocket to catch a call with her in her carrier and a water hose in my hands! *cross fingers for jawbone*

I would love this......got out of the Bluetooth habit when I switched to the iPhone......need to get back in the habit while I'm driving as the iPhone is not "driver" friendly...not to this driver anyway! Oh and I'm a Facebook fan too!

Imagine! I wouldn't have a cramp in my neck or my arm wouldn't fall asleep all the time from holding a phone up! Oh, this is exactly what I need!! Thanks for your honest opinions! Glad they fixed the location of that button. See? You DO have some pull!! :)
Keep up the great work!

I would love to enter the modern age and have one of these :-) I get a crick in my neck from holding the phone between my head and shoulder and hate to talk while driving - it's just unsafe.

I have no idea how on earth that thing would work- but anything to make running around the house like a maniac while chit chatting to a girlfriend easier I'm all for!

If I won this lovely piece, I would be able to get so much more done. I have several friends who have never been able to have brief conversations...meaning...I'm on the phone for at least an hour or two every time they call. With this, I could actually do housework while consoling my gal pals long distance and they wouldn't here the clanking pots and pans or the toilet flushing. LOL Woot!
